Guest guest
PeriynAki The Make up Woman Dressing ..Dressing and Decorating oneself-dressing..dressing ..ongoing process!.. My friend had to leave for vacation but his wife was not yet ready. The luggage were ready, packed. The children eagerly were waiting for the trip. The wife was still decorating herself looking for the appropriate dress. She asked him, 'which saree should i take? the blue silk one or the red one?' She took the red but again changed her mind to the blue but again started looking for some other dress. Then it was turn of the necklace. This was going on. Well, if we ordinary mortals attribute so much attention to the dress, then think of AzvAr-s who are immersed in EmperumAn's auspicious qualities. PeriyAzvAr was longing for arrival of Sri KrshNA and He did not turn up. Expecting His arrival any moment, she thought of decorating herself with proper ornament and dress. Periya NAyaki wore necklace-good-looked into the mirror and was very happy. She examined the bangles -good. Then started the process of wearing the saree. She wore the saree. Looking at herself, thought she should wear it in a different manner appropriate to His taste. Started wearing it again. No, she thought, it should be this way and again the saree was draped in a different manner. This was going on and on. The Lord did not turn up.The decoration , the draping was becoming an ongoing thing. Ultimately she became tired and frustrated. However, she got up again and made up her face with lip-sticks and started babbling His names repeatedly. AzvAr here dresses for His sake. The ornaments are for His consumption. The saree draping is for His taste. The make up for His enjoyment. and all PeriyazvAr coins in his wonderful pAsuram as present continuous tense 'kARAi pUNum-kaNNADi kANum-than kai vaLai kulukkum kURAi vudukkum, ayaRkkum, than kovvai sevvAi thiruthum thEArith thEARith dhEVan pEAr pithaTRum, mAyan mAmaNivaNNan mEal ival mAlvuruginRALEa'3-7-8 of PeriyAzvAr Thirumozhi.
