Guest guest
Misdeeds , Not Birth - The Criterion The Lord punishes those who commit mistakes. A supreficial observation that the Almighty decimates the asura Clan will point to the fact that He targets the clan, as they are 'asurAs', However, if one looks into this deeply, we may observe that, in fact it is by their sins that they are punished and not because of their birth. That is what Sri PeriyAzvAr mentions when he uses the prefix pizhakkudaiya -asurargaL The sinning asurAs. Those demons who have committed sins. They are singled out and treated with disdain. SVAmi MAmunikaL explains this clarly. ' ithAl- asura yOnigaLiL piRandhavargaL ellAraiyum nirasikka vEANum ennum nirhandham illai iREA; avargaL pizhaigaLai kaNakkittEA nirasikkum ennumidam thOTrugiRadhu' By this, just because of their births, the asurAs are not killed but going by their account of sings, they are being slain. Not because of their Birth but due to their follies.
