Guest guest
Will anyone throw light on the origin of Badrikashramam. The reason for Narayanan to do penance in the mountain hills, of Badri. The legend says that Buddhist monks, with a view to curtail the growth of Hinduism, threw the idol of Badrinarayanan into the river Alakananda. When Adi Sankaracharya went to Badri, Narayanan appeared in his dream and revealed that his idol is lying in a pond and he should retrieve it and construct the temple for him. So did Adi Sankaracharya. The present temple was constructed by the Maharaja Jaipur after the major earth quake experienced in Himalayan Region in 19th Century. Sevel Krishnan.
