Guest guest
As a boy, I read a novel Tiruchchitrambalam by Jagachirpiyan in Ananda Vikatan, in the early sixties. This novel shows Kulothunga in good light but still records that he removed the idol of Sri Govindaraja Perumal (albeit with great devotion, after observing a fast etc.) with a noble intention of consecrating it in the ocean, which (the king conveniently points out) is the natural abode of Lord Vishnu. I have been wondering, if this were so, when and how the idol was restored and by whom. I have also heard a version that the idol was taken away to Tirupati by Sri Vaishnavites and consecrated there, thus facilltating the present Govindaraja Perumal temple at Tirupati. I would like to know the real history or if there is no historical record for this, the Guru Parampara version of this phenomenon.Performing the Samprokshanam of Sri Govindaraja Perumal temple can no way be considered a vengeful act. I think that some people are deliberately suggesting a non-existent rift between Saivites and Vaishnavites. The author of the blog has unnecessarily dragged the name of Sri Ramanuja, by mentioning some fictitious stories. These fictitious stories cannot be used to justify Kulothunga's (whom the author acknowledges as a fanatic.) assault on Vaishnavism. I understand that a Samprokshanam has been performed in the past. So, what is the objection now? It is unfortunate that someone has used this forum to canvass opinion against the proposed Brahmothsavam, which no devotee, whether Saivite or Vaishnavite will object to.P RengaswamiLet Lord Lakshmi Narasimha grant you the best of everything in life.--- On Thu, 26/6/08, Cr Krupa <crkrupa wrote:Cr Krupa <crkrupa brahmotsavam at chidambaramcrkrupa, sandhyavinjamuri, "shiva_bhakthi Moderator" <shiva_bhakthi-owner >, "SriVishnuSahasraNamam-Dubai Moderator" <SriVishnuSahasraNamam-Dubai-owner >, "dubai" <SriVishnuSahasraNamam-Dubai >, vnirmal30, "yakshaloka Moderator" <yakshaloka-owner >, "yaksha" <yakshaloka >, "natarajalovers Moderator" <natarajalovers-owner >, "nataraja" <natarajalovers >, neeta_sonai, " Notification" <notify >, "PALAMSATSABHA Moderator" <PALAMSATSABHA-owner, rasikapriya-dot-net Date: Thursday, 26 June, 2008, 4:51 AM DEAR ALL My humble namaskarams to all of you.Kindly read the blog http://chidambaramg ovindarajanatara ja.blogspot. com/ and cast your vote at http://www.petition online.com/ BRAHMOTS/ petition. html .Your active participation is required and you single vote could make all the difference.Thanking you in advance your ever faithful C R Krupa Nisha P Rajagopal Meet people who discuss and share your passions.
