Sri Kseerabdhisayana Narayanaperumal Temple,Thirulokki

 

Thirulokki village in Thiruvidaimarudur Tk. Of Thanjavur

Dt. is a serene village where people of all religions & sects live

together.Besides the Perumal koil in the southern side, Sivan temple in the

sannadhi St. centrally located.Kailasanthar temple in the eastern side

Mariamman Temple in southeastern side, Ayyanar temple in the western

side,Kaliamman temple & Pillaiyar temples

on the car streets of the village are being worshiped by the villagers.

The perumal temple (Thiruppar kadal pallikonda Narayanaperumal) was

built during the period of King, first Rajaraja Cholan whose Pattamahishi

Thirlokkiya Madeviyar’s hails from this village. The temple was Maintained

by Sri. Kasi Mutt, Thirupanandal with the income from the landed property of

this temple.

After the take over of the temple by the H.R & .C.E Department of the state

Govt. the income to this temple was not proper & slowly maintenance was

under neglect.The Samprokshanam to this temple was last performed during the

year 1951.Due to the poor income the pooja was performed only once a day &

the Bhattachar was not paid his monthly salary for months together.This

stage was reclaimed to the extent possible by the viilagers .

The moolavar Sri Ksheerabdhi sayananarayanaperumal is in reclining

posture on 5 headed Aadhiseshan facing the east with 4 hands with sangu &

chakram. Sridevi thayar & Boomidevi thayar are in sitting posture on the

head & toe sides of the perumal respectivly. From the Nabikamalam of perumal

Sri Brimha ‘s raising is depicted.As in Sriranga Kshethram here

is of Sudhai because of which only Thaila Kappu is being done on special

occasions especially on the day of Vishnupathi Punniyakalam. This temple was

celebrating Vaikundaekadesi,Srijayanthi with Uriyadi sevai, Sankaranthi,

Purattasi Saturdays annually.Thayar is Ksheera Nayagi in a separate Sannadhi

on the south side of Moolavar.There are sannadhies for Sri

Varadharajar,Vishnudurghai,Garudalwar. Sri Yoga Narasimhar, Sri Anjaneyar &

Alwargal .

The villagers have resolved to bring this temple to proper condition

for worship & formed a Trust in the Name of the Poet & minister in the

Kingdom Rajaraja Cholan-1 by name Karuvoor Thevar.He was instrumental in

brining up the temples in this village & has sung about the Sivan here

(Sri.Sundareswarer}. The Trust with the help of H.R & C.E, Kasi Mutt,

Thirupanandal, Villagers & dovotees from outside village is renovating

(Reconsruction?) this temple from 31.10.2007.Almost all the works are over.

The Balayam for moolasthanam was done on 13th of June,08 & is expected to be

over in a month’s time. The Samprokshanam is expected to be performed by

20th August,2008.

The impotance & fame of this temple was initially brought to lime light

by an articles appeared in the journal Agasthiya Vijayam from

Thiruvennamalai. In“ The Hindu†Dt.16TH,April,2004, Smt.Prema Nandakumar has

written a detailed article with Photos taken in person, about the conditions

prevailed before taking up the renovation. Almost all the dailies in tamil

in their weekly malars have given an account of this temple. But the article

authored by Sri. A.M. Rajagopalan, that appeared in Kumudham Jodhidam

kindled the spiritual thoughts of it’s readers & brought a good sum for the

renovation funds.

Yet it is apprehended whether, that Samprokshanam can be done as per

schedule after completing the pending works like construction of

Vishnudurghai Sannadhi, Anjaneyar Sannadhi. Thirukula padithurai,

Thirumadappalli & the moolavar sannadhi due the financial constraints that

exist now. With full faith with Sri Ksheerabdhisayana narayanaperumal & his

devotees around the world we the villagers have ventured to fix the date of

Samprokshanam & are slowly continue the works.

An appeal through this information may not be out of context for

liberal contributions to complete the divine works & to bring the temple in

Respectful Swamin, A doubt has arisen in adiyEn's mind after reading the following passage in the mail forwarded:

"As in Sriranga Kshethram here moolavar’sSevai is of Sudhai because of which only Thaila Kappu is being done on special occasions especially on the day of Vishnupathi Punniyakalam."

Kindly clear the doubt.

adiyEn recalls that for long the Moolavar SrI Ranganatha SrIranga kshEtram was considered as of Sudhai, but after the fire accident decades ago, it was discovered that the Moolavar was not of Sudhai but of silA.

Whether He is of Sudhai or SilA may be clarified. Because the event occurred when adiyEn was very young.
