THERE USED TO BE SOME VAIDEEKIS - AND STILL SOME VAIDEEKIS ARE THERE - WHO PERFORM - NITHYA SRADDAM FOR THE PARENT'S DEATH. IN SUCH CASE IT WILL BE WELL NIGH IMPOSSIBLE TO VISIT ANY OF THE SHRINES MENTIONED. POSSIBLY THIS HAS SPREAD TO THE DEATH OF OTHER CLOSE RELATIVES.

Dear Swamin,

Here is my humple personal opinion on your question. This however may not be SHASTHRAM based.

In those days there is no transport facility to go from one place to other.

People have to walk to wherever they go, whether its Kasi, Tirupathi, any Divyadesam.

Going from one place to other could many days or even months.

But Shasthram says that the kartha (as specified in this case) has to perform certain rites/karmas.

for first 10days, then 27th day, 30th day and for every month until the completion of year.

So people might have avoided visiting any kshethrams in order to fulfill their duties.

They would not be able to perform their rities if they take up any kshethradanam within the 1st year.

One might not know where whey would end up on the appropriate "Thithi" that he has to do karma.

This could be the reason I feel rather than any specific rule from any Shasthram.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Respected Swamin,

Can somebody enlighten me on the following point :-

1. After the death of very, very close relation, a person is informed NOT to VISIT Divya Kshetrams, especially Hill temples like Tirumala, Sholinghur etc., for one year - till the annual ceremoney is over. Why is this being done ?

I shall be grateful for anyone giving a shastram based answer.

Adiyen daasan,
