Guest guest
AidhihyangaL (à®à®¤à®¿à®¹à¯à®¯à¯à®™à¯à®•à¯à®³à¯) Our commentators have recorded real life incidents/happenings in the commentaries. Our vyAkyAnam-s are replete with these. AidihyangaL-s are real life incidents in the life of our AchAryas. These are related to the vyAkyAnam/text. These, give us an understanding into the text and commentary and also show to us, how our pUrvAchAryas have led their life. Here are a few : paNi mANam pizhaiAmEAthiru-voi-mozhi 4-8-2; Nam AzvAr proclaims that The Lord had taken kainkaryam from him fully. In a scale of ten, the service taken by The Almighty is ten, declares AzvAr, in this pAsuram. The scale of service should be unabridged or uncurtailed. When a srevaishNaviteinvolves himself in kainkaryam, the paNi=kainkaryam (பணி) should be of full measure=mANam=measure;(மாணமà¯)This is explained with an incident :When the thadhEyArAdhanai ghOshti was going on, sri AchAn (kiDAmbi) was serving water andhe was not straight up but was putting his back on the wall as support. Onseeing this, udayavar rushed to him and told "One should serve by standingupright"Edu:"madathil srEvaishNAvargaL amudhuseiyyA niRka, AchAn thannEr amudhuparimARugiRavar, vOrarugEa sAya ninRu parimARinAr. adhai, udayavar kaNdu vOradivandhu, mudhugilEa mOdhi, 'nEAREA ninRanROA vudOA parimARuvadhu?"enR'srEvaishNavargaL should be attended with utmost care especially when they arebeing served with food. There should be no dilution in the attention' is theessence of the message by sri udayavar. AidihyangaL : are not exact meanings for the pAsuram-s.These are correlation of the particular part of the pAsuram to real life incidents. For instance in the above pAsuram, AzvAr proclaims that he has been taken kainkaryam in full measure by EmperumAn. This AchAn-vudayavar aidihyam in EDu in no way substitutes EmeperumAn to EmperumAnAr and AzvAr to AchAn. However, this incident reflects the fact that kainkayram should be blemishless without dilution. How did the AchAryas lead their life? What was their behaviour among themselves? What was their approach towards EmperumAn? what was their approach towards SrIvaishNavites? What was their ideas about materialstic world? All the answers can be obtained from 'aidihyangaL' ( à®à®¤à®¿à®¹à¯à®¯à¯à®™à¯à®•à¯à®³à¯)embedded in the invaluable commentaries.
