Guest guest
Unbiased Reporting One of the hallmarks fo our Commenatators, are their unbaised reporting. Despite the fact that there have been different interpretaions and differences in opinions, these have been reported, on as is where is bases. In fact, in upaDesa REthinamAlai, Svami MAmunikaL cleraly spells out that VAdikesari jEyar's pannErAyirappadi ThriuvAimzohi vyAkyanam takes a different tone but it falls within the overall framework of our tenets. 'tham periya bOdhamudan -yEdhamil pannErAyiram' ’தம௠பெரிய போதமà¯à®Ÿà®©à¯ à®à®¤à®®à®¿à®²à¯ பனà¯à®©à¯€à®°à®¾à®¯à®¿à®°à¯à®®à¯â€™ It is well known that EmperumAnar did not himself give a commentary to TiruvAimozhi as he wanted varous rasam-s to be cherished by different AcharyAs. Let us see two such evetnts one from ThiruvAimzohi and one from Periya Thirumozhi. thEanum, pAlum, neyyum, kannalum, amudhum-othEa: தேனà¯à®®à¯ பாலà¯à®®à¯, நெயà¯à®¯à¯à®®à¯, கனà¯à®©à®²à¯à®®à¯, à®…à®®à¯à®¤à¯à®®à¯ ஒதà¯à®¤à¯‡ திரà¯à®µà®¾à®¯à¯à®®à¯Šà®´à®¿ 2-3-1; svAmi Nam AzvAr happily and proudly narrates EmperumAn's grace, His immense sauselyam and the way He mixes with AzvAr. Here this is described as 'ThEanum pAlum neyyum kaNNalum amudhum othEa..' It is said that Sri ALa-vandhAr interepreted this (as per Sri ThirumAlai ANDAn)as honey mixing with honey, milk with milk, ghee with ghee and so on. (Homogenous tasting products mixing with each other) Udayavar explains this as a special mixture of honey, milk, ghee, amurdham and so on. Thus, here,an explanation of EmperumAnar differing from that of Sri ALavandhAr is reported in EDu. let us see one more.. aRiyAk kAlathuLLEa adimaik kaN anbu seivithu-aRiyA mA-mAyathu adiyEanai vAithAyAl As seen above, in the first pAsuram of the third TiruvOimozhi of the second ten , AzvAr merrily describes how the Lord had mixed with him. In the third pAsuram, he proclaims in the first line, that The Lord had bequeathed him causeless mercy when he did not have any knowledge and in the second line he says that the Almighty had kept him in this world. The interpretation by Sri ALavandhAr as taught by Sri ThirumAlai ANDAn is 'Having graced AzvAr when he had no knowledge, EmperumAn left him to suffer in this world' However, later EmperumAnAr suggested that the interpretaion will not fit in with the context as the previous and next pAsuram-s are being rendered in a joyful mood and AzvAr will not spell out with melancholy that after grace he has been left in this world to suffer. So EmpeurmAnar changed the words and put it thus: 'The Almighty graced AzvAr who was revolving in this miserily world , when he did not have any knowledge' 'aRiyAmAmAyathu aDiyEanai! aRiyAk kalathuLLEa aDimak kaN anbu seivithAi' அறியா மா மாயத௠அடியேனை! அறியாக௠காலதà¯à®³à¯à®³à¯‡ அடிமைகà¯à®•à®£à¯ அனà¯à®ªà¯ செயà¯à®µà®¿à®¤à¯à®¤à®¾à®¯à¯ ஈட௠(to be continued) தாஸன௠வானமாமலை பதà¯à®®à®©à®¾à®ªà®©à¯
