Guest guest
Shri: Dear all shrivaishnavaas Adiyaen's pranaams. Adiyaen used to remember the pancha Praanans before we take the food. Adiyaen observed when my father chants this five praanans before he eats the food. They are 1. OM Pranaayae Swaaha 2. A-bhaanaayae Swaaha 3. Viyaanayae swaaha 4. Uthaanaayae Swaaha 5. Samaanaayae Swaaha Can anyone explain the importance of this. What is this mean ? since Praanan is different from Aathman as per Thattvathrayam .., Why this praanan ., has to be remembered, repected & prayed upon. ? Is it ever meant to live for 200 years in this world. ? Thanks in advance Adiyaen Maaran's Dog. Looking for the perfect gift? Give the gift of Flickr! Guest guest
Five sheaths are annam, prANam, manam, vignAnam and Anandam. Each of them are to be regarded as Brahman. annam (food) to Anandam (joy). I have never seen Anandam when someone has no food to eat. Have you seen a hungry man happy? annam is digested with the help of prANam (vital breath). Have you seen a breathless person (dead) eat any annam? prANam itself consists of five parts: prANam, apAnam, vyAnam, udAnam and samAnam. Each of these pancha prANams operate in sprcific domains of the body. Like the wate we drink reaches blood, cells, urine, semen, stools- likewise the air we breath, prANam is the air we breath in, whereas apAnam is that which is let out. Gas we pass is also considered apAnam. Much of the gas is produced by our microflora in the colon. All these 5 breaths are essential in digesting food. Thus we invoke the 5 prANams; we are offering food to them. The same 5 are invoked in naivedhyam (offering food to God) as well. Tathvathrayam is something else. Without prANam there is no tathvathrayam! Tatvathrayam gives Ananadam (bliss)- but you can not put the cart before the horse. If you want a nice ride, you also have to feed the horse and bear with its fart and belch! One can live without tathvathrayam, but can not without prANam.
