Guest guest
Dear Mr.Sunflower, The Gayatri Mantra is the Supreme Mantra of all the Vedas. And Goddess Gayatri is the Supreme Goddess who is the Supreme Quality of Paramaatma Lord NAARAAYANA. The presiding Deity of Gayatri Mantra is Paramaatma LORD VISHNU. Every Dwija must perform Sandhyavandanam thrice every day.Yesterday (i.e.) 16 - 08 -2008 was YAJURUPAKARMA the day on which the Yagnopaveetam must be changed and new Yagnopaveetam must be worn. And today (i.e.) 17 - 08 - 2008 is Gayatri Japam and Gayatri Japam must be performed by all Dwijaas. Performing Gayatri Mantra is A Tapas through which one can self-realise the Supreme BRAHMAN LORD NAARAAYANA. By performing Sandhyavandanam one transfers the Power of LORD NAARAAYANA to SUN GOD the person performing the Sandhyavandanam being the medium acquires First hand KNOWLEDGE (i.e) VEDA.Goddess Gayatri is eternal.Gayatri Mantra comes under Anushtup Chandas. An Anushtup Chandas containes 24 Aksharas, meaning syllables.I am a staunch worshipper of Gayatri. I also am a devotee of Goddess and notice no mention is made of Gayatri in the group description. Isn't Gayatri one of the most imporant Devi's, Energy of the Rising Sun? Gayatri Mantra? Anyway, this link is great as it has some scriptures re: sungazing and Goddess Gayatri. http://www.vedah. com/org2/ literature/ pdf_docs/ Sandhya_Mantras. pdf I notice in the member listing almost everyone except me is in India or has an Indian name. I'm in the usa a Solitary Eclectic Devotee of Goddess and I address the Sun always as She. In my religion, Goddess is all there is and even the Gods are just another manifestation of Her Divine Light and Love.Is it ok to say this among an Indian group? I don't want to offend anyone with my personal belief and practice. I thought in India Devi is Known and Loved and am surprised to hear no mention of such an important Sun Devi as Gayatri.Blessings & Peace,Sunflower
