Esteemed Sir,

 

I, – E. V. Desikan [Enjimedu Madabooshi Yagnavedhi Desikan] – ‘am an Enjimedu–born ardent sishya of AND presently serving as the General Power Agent of Sri Ahobila Mutt, offer my pranaams and present my best wishes AND would like to express the following few lines for your kind perusal and seek your benevolence towards a noble cause I am presently involved in :

 

As you would all be aware – With the benign blessings AND by the innate, keen interest evinced by Srimadh Azhagiasingar – the grand renovation works of the Enjimedu Sri Varadharaja Perumal Temple – said to be over 1500 years old – of Sri Ahobila Mutt’s Adheenam – are progressing rapidly.

 

The immeasurable elegance of Enjimedu – this little, pretty hamlet originally named Yagnavedhikai [Yaagamedu in Tamil] re-consecrated by Sri Sashta Parankusa Yatheendra Mahadesikan, the 6th pontiff of Sri Ahobila Mutt on the banks of the river Seyyaru [bahu Nadhi] was known for incessant, intensive performance of Yagnas & Yagaas.

 

The presiding deity of the temple worshipped as “Yaga Samrakshana Rama†is believed to have presided over the Yagaas like Vajapeyam, Poundareekam, etc., performed by learned seers of this village. Devotees throng here to be bestowed with fulfillment of their wishes like progeny, marital harmony and mental peace.

 

The worth of this virtuous village grew multifold by the birth of great scholars and devout Srivaishnavites. It had the unique pride of producing TWO great Acharyas – the 34th Jeer Sree Lakshmi Nrisimha Divyapadhukasevaka Srivann Satagopa Sri Satagopa Ramanuja Yatheendra Mahadesikan AND the 42nd Jeer Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Divyapadhukasevaka Srivann Satagopa Sri Sriranga Satagopa Yatheendra Mahadesikan [popularly known as “Enjimettu Azhagiasingarâ€] – to the holy order of the great Sri Ahobila Mutt.

 

Srimadh Enjimettu Azhagiasingar in his lifetime, installed Sri Varadharaja Swamy and Perundevi Thayar also in the same sannithi and the Nithya Araadhanam to both the deities besides to those Acharyas and Azhagiasingars are being conducted from then on, to date uninterrupted.

 

The greatness of this Enjimedu kshetram and the immensity of the Lord’s grace have been brought out beautifully by the great scholar Sri. A. M. Rajagopalan, Editor, “Kumudam Jothidam†weekly magazine in their issue dated 16/11/2007. He has narrated in every detail with sufficient proof – the astrological advantages that could be derived by devotees with certain impediments in life, marriage, child birth, etc., - by visiting and worshipping in this temple.

 

 

Now – about the temple renovation –

 

The sannidhis of Sri Rama, Lord Varadharaja, Perundevi Thaayar, besides the outer praakarams of the temple are in a highly dilapidated condition AND are in an urgent need of immediate total renovation and consecration.

 

Now the tasks of total reconstruction of Sri Ahobila Mutt at Tiruvallur AND the renovation on a grand scale of those mutts in other Divyadesams like Tiruppullani [sethu], Tirukkurunkudi, Srivilliputtur, Srirangam, etc., are under way, at a huge cost running to several crores of rupees, AND ….

 

Inasmuch Srimadh Azhagiasingar – despite his ripe age – is very well pre-occupied with these tasks both physically and financially. With a view NOT to bother him further with the Enjimedu temple renovation too, it has been decided to conduct and administer – as per the wishes of Srimadh Azhagiasingar – a committee under the name and style of “Sri Perundevi Nayika Sametha Sri Varadharaja Perumal Temple Renovation Committee†has been constituted with Sri. A. M. Rajagopalan, Editor – Kumudam Jothidam, as President.

 

Funds collected for the said temple renovation works are now exempt from Income Tax, under Sec. 80G (5)(vi) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, vide Ref. DIT(E) No. 2 (1215) 07–08 dt. 27/03/2008 which will be valid for the period from 23/10/2007 to 31/03/2009.

 

Now I appeal, on behalf of the committee – to all philanthropists and aasthikas to partake in this righteous cause and be a recipient of the wholesome blessings of the Acharyas and the Lord!
