Guest guest
Medicine for Relief from Happiness The pangs of sufferings or agony results in distress. The pains and ache entails physical and mental stress. The immediate action is seeking medical aid. Aided with the daignosis through series of tests and what not, this is carried out. Having done all this, the cat is out of the bag. Physcians prescribe medicines. Surgeons try their hands on surgery or sometimes it is left to physiotherapist to treat the ailment. When there is blank wall, the oft repeated words are 'We have tried our best, Rest is With The Lord' Be it allopathy or alternative medicines in various regions spread in the world, the aim is to kill pain. Anaesthesia kills the feelings for the time being but the root cause of the pain is looked for and nipped off. It is but natural to seek relief from such shooting pains and seek a permanent relief from such travails. What about happiness, one may wonder. What is this weird title 'Medicine for Relief from happiness' one may question. When everybody is looking for happiness, everlasting joy, why should one seek relief from happiness? Sounds strange! isnt it? It is Sri Nam AzvAr who has uttered this and the medicine is none other than the Almighty. We claim for eternal bliss,Endless joy ( andhamil pErinbam -அநà¯à®¤à®®à®¿à®²à¯ பேரினà¯à®ªà®®à¯) and Lo! AzvAr clamours for a medicine for happiness. This seems to be contradictory, a paradox, illogical and to put it mildly, perhaps a bit absurd. The superficial reading of the following pAsuram from TiruvAmozhi lines would appear so 'marundhEa nangaL bOga magizhhkku enRu perum thEvar kuzhAnkaL pithATRum pirAn...' TiruvAimozhi -9-3-4 ’மரà¯à®¨à¯à®¤à¯‡ நஙà¯à®•à®³à¯ போக மகிழà¯à®šà¯à®šà®¿à®•à¯à®•à¯ எனà¯à®±à¯ பெரà¯à®®à¯ தேவர௠கà¯à®´à®¾à®™à¯à®•à®³à¯..’ தà¯à®°à¯à®µà®¾à®¯à¯à®®à¯Šà®´à®¿ ௯-௩-௪. However, a close study of the commenatary will unravel this mystery. VisathvAk sigAmani SvAmi mAmunikaL has given wonderful vyAkyAnam for this. MamunikaL for TiruvAimozhi?! Let us go into that .
