Guest guest
Hello everybody, I've been enjoying the conversations I've read in this group, and have thus far just been a silent observer. I was curious, though, about Sri Vaisnavism as compared to Gaudiya Vaisnavism and especially ISKCON. In what ways does Sri Vaisnavism and Gaudiya Vaisnavism differ? Is their a Sri Vaisnava institution in the west like ISKCON? Can anyone point me in the direction of a good website or information online that would give me more information? Are the regulative principles of Gaudiya Vaisnavism the same as Sri Vaisnavism? How do Sri Vaisnavas regard Srila Prabhupada? Thanks! Guest guest
The root to Srivaishnavism is the same. There are several acharyas and depending on the need of the local customs suitable modifications have been made of the daily rituals to reach Sriman Narayana. All the Vaishnavite acaryas ad Gurus are respected, though one may follow his own acharya of his choice, like Srimad Andavan, Ahobilamutt, Parakalmutt. Surrender to Sriman Narayana is the goal of all Sri Vaishnavites. Guest guest
Namaste; I can tell you the main difference: 1. Two are doifferent Parampara, Progression, one started form Shri Lajshmiji/Narayan (Sri Vaishnava Philosophy); Today's well known ISCON started from Charturmukh Brahmaa. 2.Main Acharya Sri Ramanujacharya of SV; Sri Nimbakacharya/ Shri Chaityana of Gaudiya Vaishnava; 3.main deity of SV is ShrimanNarayan and Lakshmiji; For Gaudiya V. Shri Krishna and Radhaji is the main Lord. ( For SV Sri Krishna is also very Poojya as the Avatar of ShrimanNarayan.) 4. Both are Vaishnava with different ways and philosophies. If I want to know more about SV, I would Google "srivaishanava". These are my humble thoughts about your question. I hope you got some answer.
