aruLaadhaneer aruLi avar aavi thuvaraamun

aruLaazhi putkadaveer avar veedhi orunaaL enru

aruLaazhi ammaanai kandakkaal idhu solli

aruLaazhi vari vandE yaamum en pizhaitthOmE

 

Oh bee who has circular lines on you, if you see the Lord with discus on His hand, please tell Him these words. "You have not granted her wish to unite with you but at least appear one day in the street where she is on your merciful Garuda so that she can at least see you before her life ends." What have I done not deserve even this?

 

The nayaki sees the bee and the circles of lines on its body, aazhivari, reminds her of the Lord who wears the charka and goes on Garuda. So she beseeches the bee to convey her message when it sees the Lord on its travels seeking honey. The message is that though the Lord did not show mercy on her and come to her at least He should go along the street where she lives so that she can at least get His darsan before her life departs.

 

aruLaadhaneer- you who has not shown grace,

 

aruLaazhi ammaan- the one who is wearing the chakra which showers grace, even if He does not. It was the chakra which saved Gajendhra and Ambarisha. Also it could mean that He is the ocean, aazhi, of mercy, aruL.

aruLaazhi putkadaveer- the Lord who travels on Garuda the merciful. Garuda will bring Him being a sea of mercy once the Lord wills it.

 

aruLaazhi vari vandE- the nayaki praises the bee comparing the lines on its body to the chakra of the Lord.

 

neer kandakkaal- If you see the Lord in your search for the honey. The implication is that the bee must necessarily go to the Lord because there is no honey more sought after than His lotus feet and the bee must end up there in its search for honey.

 

Avar veedhi orunaaL kadaveer- The Nayaki asks the bee to tell the Lord to come on the street where she lives at least one day to sustain her life before it departs, avar aavi thuvaraamun aruLi.

 

Seetha tells Hanuman `jeevantheem maam yaThaa raamaH sambhavayathi keerthimaan thath thvayaa hanuman vaachyaH'

 

"Tell Rama in such away that he would come and save me while I am living." The similar idea is expressed here.

 

Azhi varivandu denotes the acharya who is wearing the vaishnavite signs of charka and shankha on his body. Azhi is chakra and vari is shankha as it has lines on it. The acharya is like the bee because,

 

 

Like the bee which has six legs, shatpadha he is also established in shatpadha , the dhvayamanthra.

He has done the saranagathi consisting of six limbs.

Like the bee he is fond of the honey of the lotus feet of the Lord.
