Dear BCV,Noble thought !We must identify the temples and colle ct evidence with photographs. Also get a petition signed by devotees with iden tity and submit to Corporation as well as Police seeking cancellation of licenceWe have to meet Commissioner and al so HR & CE Secretary as well as Minister. But all this shd be done after creating an organisational base at Chennai city to start with.We should concentrate on bigger ,older temples like Kapaliswar,Parthasarathy Karneeswarar, Appar, Balasubramaniar (Eldams), Siva Vishnu, Agasthya, Sriniv asa-Purasavakkam, Varadaraja-Aminjik arai,Venugopala-Govindan Road,Kasi Vi swa Nathar/Kothandaramar/Satyanara yana-W Mambalam, TTD T Nagar,Veng eeswarar,Arcot Road, Sivan Koil+Muru gan Koil-Vadapazhani,Thandeeswarar and Lakshmi Narasimhar, Velacheri Kan dasamy and Channakesavai-GT, Thiru votteeswarar, Kari Varadarajar-Madhava ram etc There are about 50 temples

in and around City.We shd form Thirukkoil Exnora Panchayats for each temple for weekly or even monthly cleaning iniati ve and enrol 100 devotees. They shd perform the Karseva and become visib le to the public and EO so that when a representation is signed by them for re moval of liquor shop and meat shop, it carries credibility. We shd give 3 mont hs notice and be prepared to go to cou rt also in the matter. I will be glad to convene a meeting of devotees in November..I am planning a round up on 2nd Sat and Sun and cov er as many temples as possible..Objec tive is to get 5 persons with help of the Priest to take charge of each temple. I will talk to you and others by Nov 5 up on my return and let us take this noble initiative forward. Please forward this mail and help estab lish contact with the right persons for each temple.RegardsS Rangarajan(Now in the US on a biz trip).

It is a shame that in Tamil Nadu such a law does not exist. Not only that, you find systematically liquor shop and meat shop (poor hygiene) close to the temples. In and around Chennai, this is very common. What for is waiting our TN government?
