VEDA DHARMA TRUST

Rishi - The Sage, is one who has mastered a portion of the Veda, and one who has

mastered the entire Vedas is called " Maharishi " in the Hindu Tradition.

The Veda Vyasa is a great master of the entire Vedic Literature. Our Rishis had

laid down the definite Rules for doing Samskaras. From birth to death it is a

continuous series of incidents moving round as a nucleus of desire to love, to

enjoy, to think, and ultimately to retire. All the Samskaras and their

Ceremonies emanate from the centre of life and are concurrent with its

circumference.

The Gruhyasutras, the oldest Manuals of the Samskaras start with Vivaha

(Marriage Ceremonies) because marriage was supposed to be the centre of life

which supports and sustains all social activities.

The Smritis, however begin with the conception of a child in the womb its

mother, as obviously, the life of an individual germinates here and they end

with the Antyesti which apparently mark the end of an individual life. Between

briths and deaths like life, the samskaras revolve.

Rishis were the authorities who codified the various ceremonies connected with

Samskaras and developed and amplified according to the social sentiments and

needs and a conscious attempt was made at the codification of the Samskaras.

Samskaras helped in the refinement and purification of human life, facilitated

the development of personality, imparted sanctity and importance to human body,

blessed all material and spiritual aspirations of man and ultimately prepared

him for an easy and happy exit from this world of complexities and problems.

The Samskaras helped in the solution of the many social problems of importance

and operated in the practical life as a graduated scheme of human life and its

development.

The Samskaras were the expression of beliefs, sentiments, aspirations, hopes,

fears and they catered for human needs. Many changes are in the life due to

scientific discoveries. Material resources of life are getting multiplied which

resulted the performance of samskaras were gradually diminished. But inspite of

all these changes in the material aspects of the world, certain central

mysteries of life and some fundamental needs of human existence will remain. We

all should be grateful to our Rishis.

As mentioned above, the real value of Samskaras have been systematically

codified by our Rishis. Without the blessings of our Rishis who made such sutras

for our peaceful life, we could not have achieved the happy life. It is true

that Rishi's whose Mantras, Prayogas, Rules, Codes are protecting this entire

Universe.

Keeping the above in the mind, this Trust has been exclusively formed to promote

knowledge about our Rishis. A documentary film in CD form reveals more facts

about the Rishis and the object of the Trust. The Board of Trustees along with

you Appeal to everyone to involve and enroll in this noble cause to preserve our

Indian Values particularly our Rishis Parampara and their Sutras.

For completing the project and for creating awareness amongst the public about

this, Shri Jamadhagni Ji, an erudite Vedic Scholar from the Ashram, is

conducting discourses on Srman Narayaneeyam at various places at Chennai and one

such programme is now taking place at Sri Devi Academy School Auditorium,

Valasaravakkam, Chennai 600087 from 17.08.2007 to 16.09.2007.
