Essence of Vedanta – An abstract

taken from Swami Vivekananda’s works

Swami Vivekanand Says : You are the Ocean

of Pure-Consciousness,

the Pure Awareness, the Bramman, the Atman, which is in-visible, im-movable,

im-mutable, in-destructible, all-pervasive, all knowing, changeless behind all

changing things, which has no beginning and end. You don’t die, You are

birth less and death less. You were present yesterday; you are present to-day

and you are going to be in the future also.

He Says that the Wave is the Universe, which is raised because of our own

Vasanas (desires); the content of the Wave and the Ocean is water only. Hence

the Pure-Consciousness, the Brahman pervades in the Universe also. The Truth of

Oneness, God in its True state, which is in His un-manifested and manifested

Form of entire Universe, human beings and creatures, is within me. The Infinite

Ocean of Pure-consciousness appears apparently as many in the Universe, whereas

in Reality it is only One. The whole Universe, when it appears behind the Self

is called Brahman. The Self, when it appears behind the Universe is called God.

The same Self, when it appears behind this little universe (body and mind) is

called Atman, the Soul. The very Soul therefore is Self in man. There is only

One Purusha, the Brahman of Vedanta. God and man, when analyzed, are one in it.

The Universe is yourself, the un-broken you. You are through out the Universe.

In all hands you work; through all mouth you eat; through all nostrils you

breathe; through all minds you think. The whole Universe is your body. You are

the Universe both formed and un-formed. You are God; you are the planets; you

are the animals; you READ

What is

Meditation

What is

Meditation ? this is the question which occurs in the mind of almost every one

at different stages sometime to start meditation and even sometime to further

continue the meditation. So, with the grace of almighty, I will try the address

the above question in this Article.

To deal with

the above question first of all we need to know or rather explore that what is

the meditation. If you read / discuss with other, there are many definitions of

what meditation is and every person has reasons why to meditate. Essentially

though meditation is a spiritual practice and the purpose of this is to explore

the basis nature of what we are....... and who we are.

Even though the theoretical view is that the aim of

meditation is to still the mind and then transcend this plane of existence.

However, by all methods, the purpose of meditation is to identify oneself with

the ego, here when we in deep the ego is even the very though or feeling of his

own existence. So, the aim or purpose of meditation is to go inwards until a

state of consciousness is experienced as being READ
