Today , adiyEn will continue with the links of prakrutam Srimath Azhagiya Singar ,Sri NaarAyaNa Yatheendhra Mahaa Desikan to the ancient dhivya dEsam of ThiruviNNagram ( Oppiliappan Koil) , where Swamy NammAzhwAr and Thirumangai AzhwAr performed their MangaLAsAsanams with moving Pasurams.

Here are a few points:

 

1) There is special glory of Swamy Desikan at this dhivya dEsam. During Utsava times , Swamy Desikan accompanies PerumAL and BhUmi devi . Durign the times of Thirumanjanam for Moolavar & BhUmi Devi , Swamy Desikan also enjoys Thirumanjanam . In the Car ( ThiruthEr) festival, Sawmy Desikan rides with the Utsavar dhivya dampathis . At the end of the car ride , Swamy Desikan presides over the theerthavaari ( avabrutha snAnam). The celebration of the AchAryan (Swamy Desikan) at this dhivya dEsam extends to all AchAryaas in general and the Ahobila Matam Jeeyars in particular .

 

HH The 45th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar

Monthly sravaNa dheepams are most sacred . The Lord descends on the SravaNa dheepam Swamy in aavEsa avatAram and responds to devotees' questions and prayers . It was in one of those SravaNa dheepams , Sri Oppiliappan told the visiitng Villivalam Sri KrishNamAchArya Swami ( Poorvasrama Thiru nAmam of the current Azhagiya Singar) that he will ascend the 45th Pattam of Ahobila Matam and that will happen very quickly . Few months later, Villivalam Swamy ascended the throne of Ahobila Matam as the 45th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar without too much notice. It was Sri Oppilaippan's sankalpam.

 

In another SravaNa dheepam son after ascent to the AchArya Peetam , Srimath 45th Pattam Azhagiya Singar was told by Oppilaippan in the form of the SravaNa dheepam Swamy to commence His sanchAram on a Vijaya daSami day at His dhivya dEsam with the title of Vijaya Yaatrai . Sriamth Azhagiya-singar followed the Lord's order and on a Vijaya daSami day had the MangaLAsAsanam of Sri Oppilappan and since then has been enjoying the glorious Vijaya YaatrAs all over Bharata dEsam many times over and has a golden rule . Whenever Srimath Azhagiya Singar has a physical illness , Sri Oppiliappan chases it away with His KaDAksha veekshaNyam . Srimath NaarAyaNa Yatheendhra Mahaa desikan , Prakrutam Srimath ( Periya ) Azhagiya Singar will be celebrating His

83rd Thriunakshatram on November 27 at SelayUr.

 

Srimath Azhagiya Singar has presented golden Yajn~Opaveetham to the Moolavar at the time of presentation of the Gold Kavacham this year to Moolavar . HH has also presented adukku Padhakkams and golden cheNpaka necklace to the Utsavars . Srimath Azhagiya Singar has a special affection for this dhivya dEsam .

HH the 46th pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar has lived for more than 30 years at Thirukkudanthai as Rg Veda adhyApAkar at Veda PaatasAla there and HH has visited

and worshipped at Oppiliappan Sannidhi innumerable times.

 

HH the 43rd Pattam Azhagiya Singar (1953-1957)

The 43rd Pattam Azhagiya Singar is the BharanyAsa Acharyan for HH the45th Pattam Azhagiyasingar . Sri VeerarAghava Yatheendhra Mahaa Desikan ( HH the 43rd Pattam) was born at DevanArviLagam , which is one mile east of Oppilappan Sannidhi . During His PoorvAsramam , Sri Lakshmi NrisimhAcchAr ( HH the 43rd Pattam Azhagiyasingar's name then) particpated in all utsavams and also attended the daily nityAnusandhAnam at the Sannidhi. HH Sri DevanArviLAgam Jeeyar and His family hosted one day of the BrahmOtsavam at their palatial home .

 

HH the 44th Pattam Jeeyar( Sri Vedantha Desika Yatheendra MahA desikan(1953-1992)

Srimath MukkUr Azhagiya Singar was very fond of Oppilaippan Sannidhi. He stayed at our House with Malolan during His sanchArams . On one SravaNa dheepam day , Srimath Azhagiya Singar ordered the construction of the Sannidhi for MaNIyappan , which was in ruins and predicted that there were the statures of Sankhu and Chakram in the rubbles at a depth of 12 feet . The excavators discovered the two dhivya Aayudhams and consecrated them after the reconstruction of the temple for Sri MaNiyappan and the samprOkshaNam of the sannidhi under the ahdyaksham of Sri MukkUr Azhagiya Singar.

 

HH The 42nd Pattam Azhagiya Singar (1929-1953)

HH the InjimEdu Azhagiya Singar is the 42nd Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar . HH visited Oppiliappan Sannidhi many times during His sanchArams and was hosted by Navaneetham Sri KrishNamAcchAr Swamy of our Vaidheeka AgrahAram .

 

HH The 38th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar (1905-1909)

Sri SrnivAsa SaThakOpa Yatheendhra Mahaa Desikan (Thirukkudanthai Azhagiya Singar ) was a frequent visitor to Oppilaippan Sannidhi during His PoorvAsramam days. After His PattAbhishEkam in 1905 , Thirukkudanthai Azhagiya Singar performed MangaLAsAsanam

of Sri Oppiliappan from His chosen seat at Nrisimhapuram near AadhanUr.

HH the 9th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar ( 1538-1542 ) , who spent significant portion of His reign at Thirukkudanthai was a frequent Visitor to Oppiliappan Sannidhi. The 14th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar ( 1676-1686) who stayed for number of years at PullambhUtangudi Dhivya dEsam visited ThiruviNNagar/Oppilaippan Sannidhi many times

both in PoorvAsramam and TuriyAsramam . The 16th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar

( 1694-1698) , the SohatthUr Azhagiya Singar visited Oppiliappan Sannidhi during His long syas at Thirukkudanthai . The 17th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar , The Thiru-veLLiyangudi Azhagiya Singar ( 1698-1734) had a long reign of 35 years and 7 Months. He is known for AabharaNa samarpaNams for many dhivya dEsa Emperumans and had long stays at Thirukkudanthai during which HH performed MangaLAsAsanams of Sri ThiruviNNagarappan at Oppiliappan Sannidhi . HH the 19th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya-Singar ( 1735-1746) , who stayed considerable time during His reign at PuLLambhutangudi

visited Oppilaippan Sannidhi few times. HH The 21st Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singar

( 1748-1757) revered as the author of Sri Adhi VaNN SaThakOpa Yatheendhra Mahaa Desikan Adaikkala Patthu , HH the 22nd Pattam , GathAdharapuram Azhagiya Singar

( 1758) , a native of a village near Thirukkudanthai as well as the 23rd Pattam ,

ThiruveLLiyangudi Azhagiyasingar ( 1758-1763) can be presumed to have visited

Oppiliappan Sannidhi because they were from villages within few mile radius of

Oppiliappan Sannidhi. The 25th (VynatEyAmsam) , 26th (AndaaL amsam) , 27th Pattam (Author of Many SrI Sookthis) the 30th Pattam Srimath Azhagiya Singars were also from GathAdharapuram , close to Thirukkudanthai and they would have performed MangaLAsAsanams of ThiruviNNagarappan both in PoorvAsramam and UttharAsramams.

The 31st and the 32nd Pattam Azhagiya Singars spend extended times near Oppiliappan Koil ( , ThyAgarAjapuram and AadhanuR )and can safely be presumed to have visited

ThiruviNNagar , whenever they vsiited Thirukkudanthai. The 33rd Pattam Srimath

Azhagiya Singar ( 1853-1879) known for the blessings of Nrisimha SaakshAthkAram

very defenitely visite Oppiliappan Koil for His MangaLAsAsanams .

 

In summary , Many Srimath Azhagiya Singars have tight links to BhUmi Devi SamEta Oppiliappan over few centuries . If we accept that Swamy Desikan's BhU Stuti is about the PirAtti of this dhivya dEsam , there is no surprise that the Azhagiya Singars following the VedAntha Desika Darsanam have such affection for this ancient dhivya dEsam .

 

As one born in this dhivya dEsam and the recipent of SamAsrayaNa -BharanyAsa anugrahams from Srimath DevanArviLAgsam and Prakrutham Srimath Azhagiya Singars rspectively , adiyEn feels specially priveleged to be a sishyan of Sri Matam .
