Guest guest
One sure & sincere path to get salvation is performing one's own assigned duty without disgust. One such duty is performing " Nithya karmaanushtana " without disgust (Salippu) and in time. Somtimes, one may not be able to perform sandhya vandhanam in time due to varoius rea- sons, but for this reason one should not give up the performance of the very nithya karmaanushtana but should do it atleast a bit late by giving an additional " argyam " . This is the essence of what the Learned Pandits on the subject have been saying. But there is a doubt. When we perform Upakarma once a year, we also do " Kamo kaarisheed " japam alongwith Upakarma once in a year, seeking atonement for our past misdeeds. Now my question is can we perform Kamo karisheed japam daily and if so can we do it at all the three times of sandhya vandhana? May someone please clarify? Guest guest
Dear Sriman Nellaiyappan, I am not sure why you want to complicate things. Sure way for salvation is through several paths mentioned in Bhagavad-Gita, the simplest being surrender (BG18:66). Sandhayvandanam or nitya karmams are for self-discipline. Doing your duty without disgust and with no expectation of benefits is a sattvik act. Nobody can keep quiet. You might as well focus on something good. Somehow we have down graded the principles of our religion to set of rituals. We are stuck in caste duties without understanding caste. This plague has been preserved in the name of tradition. Even doing all the Vedic rites ordained in the Karma Khanda of Vedas will not lead to salvation. Only punarjanmam. That being the case, what salvation can you expect from sandhyavandanam, which is less than 1% of karma Khanda. If 100% of it did not grant you salvation, what will 1% karma khandam will grant? Just some self-discipline and focus. May be some ego- what a good boy I am! Also look down on someone who did not do that. Please get out of the gully mentality and think global. That is what is sanatana Dharma. You don't need to go anywhere, you can find answers to it in Bhagavad-Gita (what other shaastram needed?). Please don't make up your own statements like >>One sure & sincere path to get salvation is performing one's own assigned duty without disgust. << Without Sandhya, you are not qualified for any Veic yagnas. All the Vedic yagnas will not lead you to salvation. Your benefit will be a prolonged stay in svargam or at best you can become Indra. None of them are moksham. Once you exhaust your merits, you return to earth. Nothing wrong if you are happy spinning wheels. You have to be ready for moksham. When you have many desires still residing in you, you don't want moksham. When the only desire left in you is for moksham, then you are ready. However whoever performs sarnagati are liberated as per BG18:66. One has to think twice, if that is what they want. Remember, in sanatana Dharma, there is no haste or compulsion. You have countless opportunities and multiple paths.
