Guest guest
Happy Holi to all Hindu brother's and Sister's living in India and abroad. What is the religious importance of Holi. Lord Maha Vishnu donned the role of Varaha to save the earth and its inhabitants from Rakshasa King, Hiranyaksha. After Hiranyaksha's death his son, Hiranyakashyap became the King of Rakshasa kingdom. He wanted to take revenge on Lord Maha Vishnu. He wanted everybody in his kingdom to worship only him. But his only son, Prahlad was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashyap asked his sister, Holika to enter a blazing fire with Prahlad in her lap. Holika had a boon whereby she could enter fire without any damage on herself. However, she was not aware that the boon worked only when she enters the fire alone. As a result she paid a price for her sinister desires, while Prahlad was saved by the grace of the god for his extreme devotion. The festival, therefore, celebrates the victory of good over evil and also the triumph of devotion. On the evening of day before " Holi " , people burn Holika to celebrate victory of Good over Evil. Lord Maha Vishnu incarnated as Narasimha from a piller and kills Hiranyakashyap to save this earth again from evil Rakshasas. Happy Holi.
