Shri Ram Navami Spiritual celebration: It is celebrated to proclaim the birth of Shri Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Celebrations of Sree Ram Navami start on the first day of Chaitra (Gudhi Padwa, Yugaadi) and continue for 9 days. This year it falls on Chaitra Shukla Navami, Wednesday, 24th March

Why did Bharat install padukas of Sree Ram on the throne instead of His idol?

‘Asking for the paduka’ means ‘placing the head on the feet’ or ‘complete surrender’. When Bharat asked for Ram’s paduka the latter gave them to him. The former carried them placing them on his head such that the big toes faced the front. Then he installed them on the throne and worshipped them.
