Guest guest
SrI: Dear Raama Bhakthai : This is a slOkam recited by those who perform RaamAyaNa ParAyaNam at the end of the day's PaarAyaNam or 7 or 9 days PaarAyaNam of Sundara KaaNDam . This slOkam is sung at the end of Karnatic Music concerts by the likes of Sangeetha Kalaanidhs Ariyakkudi RaamAnuja IyengAr and Semmangudi SrinivAsa Iyer .It is a MangaLa slOkam to conclude the concert . The Meaning is : May Lord Raamachandra , who is like the wish-granting PaarijAtha Tree to those who seek his AasrayaNam ( protection as SaraNAgathAs) confer always all MangaLams ( auspiciousness) ! May Sri Raamachandran , the ocean of all all KalyANa GuNams ( Abode of all auspicious attributes ) bless me with all lasting MangaLams ! May that honey bee circling around the lotus-like (enchanting) face of SithA PirAtti confer all mangaLams on me that last permanently ! That Lord Raama chandra is Aasritha PaarijAtham ( Divine wish-granting kalpaka tree) is a reassuring thought to all Raama BhakthAs . The word Aasritha is chosen to emphasize the fact that Srimath RaamAyaNam is SaraNAgathy Saasthram and every one of the KhANDams deal with Lord's Abhaya PradhAnam . Swamy Desikan has blessed us with a blessed work ( SrI Sookthi ) named Abhaya PradhAna Saaram to clebrate this Aasritha PaarijAtham aspec tof Sri Raamachandra, the KaruNAmaya Moorthy .. The salutation to the Lord , " Samastha KalyANa GuNa ambhurAsi: " is a celebration of the Lord following the Ubhaya Linga soothram of Sage VyAsA's Brahma Soothrams . Here the Para Brahmam is identified as SavisEsha Brahman ( abode of all KalyANa guNams and free from any hEya guNams ( inauspicious guNams) . Ambhu means water and ambhurAsi refers to the vast Ocean ( of Samastha KalyANa guNams) . The praNAmams : " SeethA mukha ambhurOha sanchareeka: " refers to the Lord circling around like a honey bee around the blossomed lotus flower of SeethA PirAtti's face . This is a poetic expression to recognize the divine beauty( dhivya soundharyam ) of SeethA PirAtti and the athyantha ( profound) prEmai that the Lord has for His Devi .
