Guest guest
Sri: Dear Mr. Philip : Here is my input online after your original Mail: hill.phillipTo: rrajajiSent: Fri, 6 Apr 2007 11:49 AMGandabherunda Sir, I am emailing you with the hope that you will be able to help me find the text (Sanskrit, English, etc.) describing the Gandabherunda - avatara of Narasimha.I have had correspondence with persons stating that in the Narasimha - purana there is a Gandabherundastotra. Also I have learned that there is a Gandabherundopanishat. If you would reply to my email it would be appreciated.svasti!Bryan There is a Shrine for GandhabErunda Narasimhan at Yadagiri Gutta (Pancha Narasimha KshEthram) near Hyderabad at Andhra Pradesh . There is a shrine for Sarabha (Salva) , the form of Sivan , who incarnated to subdue the anger of Ugra Narasimha according to legend . Major PurANams ( VishNu PurANam , BhAgavatham ) do not talk about GandabhErunda and Sarabha forms of Sri Narasimha Bhagavan and Lord Siva. To the best of my knowledge , no mention is made by Upa PurANams ( minor PurANams ) like Narasimha PurANam or Upanishads associated with Narasimha refer to this mythical subject . Major PurANams stop with the destruction of HiraNya and pacification of the angry Lord by Bhaktha PrahlAdhan . The Sthala PurANams of some Narasimha KshEthrams cover Moorthys of Narasimhan ranging from 5 ( Yadagiri Gutta) , 9 ( Ahobilam ) to 32 ( SimhAchalam) . HH Chinna Jeeyar has observed that GandhabErandha Nrusimha avathAram is mentioned in a minor text known as "Nru Kanteerava abhyudhayam " . You can purchase Narasimha Puranam ( Sanskrit Text and English Translations ) from a variety of Vedantham Book stores ( vedam) or from Parimal Publications , Delhi . Even Narasimha PurANam has 4 chapters ( out of 68) devoted to Lord Narasimha . My advise to you would be : Please do not spend too much time on these distractions relating to Post-HiraNya destruction episodes because they have no strong basis in PurAnic or Upanishadic lore unless and otherwise you ar esearching for academic purposes . Please refer to the following URLs for enjoying Sri NarasimhA's incarnation and the glories (Vaibhavam) of the Lord with lots of Text and images : http://www.sundarasimham.org/e-books.htm E-Books 8 and 67 of the Sundarasimham e-books cover in detail SrI Nrusimha avathAram .
