SHRIMAN NARAYANA - THIRUNANGUR DIVYADESANGAL Get rid of your incurable diseases... Worship GajendraVaradhan at Thirumanikkudam Divyadesam

SHRIMAN NARAYANAYA NAMAHA!

The Thirumanikkudam Divyadesam is believed to cure incurable diseases.

It is said that Thakkan, had 27 daughters. All of them were married to Chandran(Moon). Chandran had promised to take care all of them and

treat them equally. However, he was fond of Rohini and always stayed

'with her, neglecting the others. All the 26 sisters of Rohini, complained to Thakkan about the ill treatment. Irked by the complaint, Thakkan cursed Chandran to suffer from incurable disease. Day by day, Chandran was loosing his shine and sheen. He was a worried lot. To get out of the curse, Chandran visited Divyaddesams. He worshipped in Srirangam, Thiru Indalur, Thalachangadu and came to Thirumanikkudam and worshipped Perumal. Here Perumal appeared before him as Varadarajar and granted him boons. Chandran's disease and curse disappeared. He was very happy.

As you enter the Thirumanikkudam Kovil, you will see Bali peetom and Garudazvar Sannadhi. There are Mahamandapam and Ardha Mandapam. In the Garbhagraha, Sri Varadaraja gives seva, facing east in standing posture. He has four hands. The rear hands have Chanku and Chakkaram and the front hands show Abhaya and Ooru mudhras. To His right side, standing over a square shaped lotus peetom, Sri Devi graces with a lotus on her left hand and right hand lowered downwards. Bhooma devi, is in the left side of Perumal, with a lotus flower in her right hand and left hand lowered downwards. Ursava moorthys are nearby.
