They had adhered to the words preached by great rishis through dancing and singing about this Perumal. This Perumal has come down to reside in this beautiful Divya Desam. The very fact that He resides here makes the nitya suris to claim that there is no other town that can match this place. Known as Dakshina Jagannath, this beautiful Divya Desam is located few miles south west of Kumbakonam Perumal's

thirunAmam is Jagannathan. ThAyAr is Shenbagavalli thAyAr. This Divya Desam is the place where Perumal, Nathan resides. This Divya Desam is also known as "Nandi Pani Seidha nagar". Here is where Nandi, the vahanam of Sivan, prayed to Perumal and got rid of the curse. This Divya Desam is also known as Nathan Kovil. Thirumangai Azhwar has enjoyed this Divya Desam in Periya Thirumozhi. We had a lovely anubhavam in this Divya Desam as any other Divya Desam. The speciality here was the sense of closeness or rather affinity as this temple is under the control of Vanamamalai mutt. We were here during the ucchi kAlam. Perumal is in Veetrirundha thirukkOlam (sitting posture). In this Divya Desam, He faces western direction because He appeared before Thayar to offer the boon by facing here. There is another version too for facing western direction. When Sibi Chakravarthy was offering his flesh on par with that of a dove's weight to vulture, Perumal wanted to see this great act, and hence turned in the

western direction to see this. naRaiseypozhil mazhaithavazhum nanthipuraviNNagaram… (PT 5.10.4) Kuyils happily sing about this Perumal by waving their wings and sitting on the branches of the trees. Peacocks dance in joy, surrounded by gardens and water bodies. All the adiyArs should definitely visit this Divya Desam.
