Guest guest
Dear All, We are in the last leg of the tour of Chozha nattu Thirupathis. We are currently entering the Divya Desam where Nammazhwar has performed Saranagati. Azhwar has exhibited Ananyagatitvam while singing on the Perumal in this Divya Desam. Known as Thirukkudanthai, this Divya Desam is situated in the Kumbakonam town. Perumal is called as Aramudhan. Thayar is Komalavalli Thayar. Perumal is in sayana thirukkolam, that too as UtthAna Sayanam. Perumal got defeated by the bhakti of Thirumazhisai Azhwar in this Divya Desam. Perumal even obeyed the command of Azhwar here. Here, Thirumazhisai Azhwar is called as Thirumazhisai Piran and the Perumal is Aramudha Azhwan. kaLaivaay thunbam kaLaiyaa thozhivaay kaLaikaN maRRilEn,vaLaivaay nEmip padaiyaay! kudanthaikkitandha maamaayaa......(TVM 5.8.8) Nammazhwar performed saranagathi to Vanamalai Perumal like a tree with out roots. Having done that he continues to perform saranagathi to Aramudhan in Thirukkudanthai. Azhwar calls Aramudhan to protect him. He contiues to plead saying that who else can protect him from this samsara other than the one who is in a lovely sayana thirukkOlam in Thirukkudanthai. iLaiyaa thunathaaL orungap pitiththu pOtha isainNeeyE. Azhwar has reached a state where the soul is about to leave the body. Azhwar wants to tightly grab the feet of Aramudhan during this time. He requests Aramudhan to grace with such an opportunity. We have couple of more Divya Desams to visit before we complete the tour. Let us visit those Divya Desams in the following postings. adiyen, ramanan
