19.alpah kalpaantha leelaa natamakutasuDhaa soothikhando bahoonaam

raakaachandhrasthu rahoho svam ithi kaThayathah prekshya kadhruookumaaraan

saantharhaasam khagendhrah sapadhi hrtha suDhah thraayathaam aayathaan nah

May Garuda , who brought the nectar immediately while laughing inside at the serpents who were saying that whether Garuda would get nectar from the crescent moon on Siva's head , which is not enough for them, or from the ocean which had been emptied of its content of nectar by churning it with his mighty arms in vain or from the full moon, who is the possession of Rahu, protect us for long.

Seeing Garuda preparing to bring nectar, the serpents, kadhrukumaaraah teased him. They said that if he tries to bring it from the crescent moon on the head of Siva, who dances at the end of kalpa, kalpaantha leelanata makutasuDhaasoothi khanda, it is not enough for them who are many, bahoonaam because it is small, alpa. If on the other hand he would try to churn the ocean, esha sindhu, with his mountainous arms bhujaadhri, it would be futile because the ocean is devoid of nectar, nissaarathvaath, which was already taken out from it.

It is also not possible for him to get nectar from the full moon, raakendhu, because it is the right of Rahu, raahoho svam who would not allow that to be taken. So they were making fun of Garuda pointing out the impossibilty of freeing his mother from slavery.

Garuda was laughing inwardly at their ignorance and brought the nectar while they were conversing among themselves thus.

The moon is supposed to be made of nectar and hence called suDhamsu.20. aaraath abhyut
