have uploaded (on You Tube) a delightful video clip of Sri Jagannatha Swami of Thiru

Nandipura Vinnagaram (also known as Thiru Nathan Koil). Thiru Nathan Koil is a

beautiful Divya Desam very near Thirukkudanthai. The approach road

is a narrow, winding country road with charming scenery around. The temple is

managed by Sri Vanamamalai Mutt. Since Lord Jagannatha removed the curse of

Nandi, you see Nandi inside the

inner

sanctum sanctorum.

I

have spliced the video with the Divine Music of Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi – a

moving rendition of a Nanak Shabad [simirana

kar lE mErE manA (tU)].

To

enhance your anubhavam, the approximate meaning of the stanzas of the Shabad

for sung by Smt.MSS is given below (from a friend of mine):

your limited life-span is passing before you (one day at a

without contemplation on Hari's Name

 

 

 

 

 

like a well without water, like a cow without milk

 

 

like the Earth without rain

 

 

like a tree which giveth not any fruits

 

 

so is a being without Hari's Name

 

 

 

 

 

like the body without eyes, like the night without the

moon,

 

 

like the temple without a lamp,

 

 

like a Pandith without the Vedas,

 

 

so is a being without Hari's Name

 

 

 

 

please remove my desires, anger, ego & envy

 

 

[in this age wherein] saintly men are cast aside [like

useless tinsel]

 

 

Oh Lord! so sayeth saintly Nanak

 

 

there is no one in the world other than Oneself

 

 

 

 

 

 

With

your eyes enraptured by the Divya Mangala Vigraham of Lord Jagannatha,

your ears enchanted by the mellifluous voice of Smt.MSS and your mind

mesmerized by the meaning of the Shabad, you melt straightaway- “azhal

vAi mezhugu pOl”.
