Guest guest
Post 8 Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, Now just link that 'dhEva mayaa iva nirmitha' or 'vishNu maayaa' seethaa or that sakthi svaroopam – energy seethaa – seethaa lakshmi or lakshmi seethaa – that power to eliminate raavaNa is obtained by raama – so once that union has happened – the pride of all, - in particular who are against the society in general - has been ruined says thyaagaraaja. Just join the charaNam 1 and 2 of the krithi and then analyse – when the supreme lord grants asylum as per sree vaishNava tenets? – The answer will definitely be – when she, the mother lakshmi is there by the side of the lord supreme sreeman naaraayaNa – now lakshmi – seethaa has joined raamaa. So immediately he starts granting abhayam – that assurance was given in dhEva loKam to brahmaa and others, all, when they came and pleaded for killing of raavaNa. Now that union of naaraayaNa and lakshmi has happened here in this bhoo lOkam. So the power to grant 'abhayam' is really obtained from the marriage. That is what thyaagaraaja says -- charaNam 1 challani choopula kannalu marijaa billi kaLalu gErina aananamu mellani maaTalu abhaya karamu livi mella sahajamaina nee guNa – intha charaNam 2 anyula gOri ghOra thapamu lenna ennO jEsi varamulandhi moordhanyulu ainavaari madhambula raajanya laghuvuna naaNachE paraakrama - intha meaning: His eyes are having cool glances. The face of Sri Raama chandhra excels even moon in its features (kaLalu). His speech is slow and composed. Thus, all His features, which stand for His natural auspicious qualities are granting us asylum – that 'abhayam'- [when – as soon he became kalyaaNa raamachandhra] meaning continued -- There were people, who did severe penance for pleasing other gods [anya dhEvathaas], and obtained several boons from them and thus exalted. You, oh raama, The mighty Lord, trampled down their pride and made them powerless. Point: once the simple, single, bachelor raama became 'kalyaaNa raama', 'seethaa raama', 'raamaa raama' or lakshmi raama', [vaalmeeki addresses seethaa as raamaa in feminine gender] thereby the 'madham' pride of all other kings and others - raakshasaas has been trampled upon, – in particular those against the good people - that raavaNa who had all varams – boons – given by all demigods – brahma and sivan et al. There is another point also – kings who tried to lift the bow and thereby comply with the janaka's challenge – raavana also came besides few other kings – this side story is there in valmikramayan website [of course vaalmeeki does not corroborate this raavaNa lifting the bow and failing – may be from other puraaNams] – quote — Janaka announced, " If anyone wants to try and string this bow and get my daughter, then please come. " So one or two very puffed-up kshatriya kings came. The first one could not lift it, and another got his hand stuck between the floor and the bow, and he had to be pulled out. Just then the whole assembly became dark and the earth was shaking. They heard someone laughing loudly. So then Janaka caught hold of Vishvamitra's hand and said, " Tell me what is now happening. " Vishvamitra said, " This must be a demon. Very soon he will enter. " In another three minutes there was a flash of light, and between the light came Trilokeshvara, Ravana. He had arranged that before he came, two other demons would precede him and announce, " Trilokeshvara Ravana is coming. " Everyone was scared, " What is this demon doing in our assembly? " So then Ravana appeared. " What is this svayamvara? You are all spineless people. You can't even lift this bow! You must know who I am. I am Ravana, and I have lifted Kailash with Lord Shiva on it. This is only his bow. This is the bow of Lord Shiva, and Lord Shiva, his whole family, his entire troop of ghosts and goblins and the whole Kailash mountain was lifted by me, and I flew to Lanka. That is my strength. " So then everybody thought, " He can easily lift this bow. " So Ravana came, and he put his hands on each side, and he lifted the bow. Everyone was amazed. " Ah! He has lifted the bow! " Then Lord Shiva in Kailash was thinking, " What's going on? I didn't leave it for him. I left it for Lord Rama. " So then Shiva went inside the bow and pressed down. Ravana got stuck. That also happened when he lifted Kailash mountain, when he put it down he got stuck. Now he was also stuck. He was crying and pleading, and finally Lord Shiva let go, and he got his hand out. And then Rama came, but he didn't use two hands, only one. He put his foot on the other end of the bow and he took the string. As he pulled it, the bow broke into two pieces. Everyone clapped their hands, and flowers fell from heaven. Then Lord Ramachandra got married to Sita, and those other three girls were married to Bharata, Shatrughna and Lakshmana. And they were coming back to Ayodhya. – unquote Dear bhakthaas, now you are able to see how that thyaagaraaja krithi 'inthanuchu' deals with seethaa kalyaNam. We will see more in next post also Dhasan Vasudevan m.g. PS: on that guNams of raama as described by thyaagaraaja we will see more.-- Vasudevan MG
