Dearest all,

Sri Uttamoor swami says in his commentary that after

the deep anubhavam of Periya Thirumozhi, and enjoying

the depths of Ashtakshara mantra upadesam from the

very Lord Himself, the Lord wanted some more from the

AzhwAr. Hence He did not show Himself fully to AzhwAr.

In a mood of longing and languishing, viraha thaapam,

AzhwAr declares his eternal sEsha, dAsathvam to the

Lord and his servitude to the Lotus feet of Lord at

all times and under all circumstances. He bursts out

with wonderful divine rhying 20 verses of

ThirukuuthAndakam and 30 verses of TNT. (which we will

enjoy subsequently).

Thus the verses in shorter length ( aRuseerkkazhi

nedilAsiriya viruttham ) became ThirukkuRunthANDakam

(TKT)and the one with eight fold symmetry (yeNN Seer)

came to be known as ThirunedumthANDakam(TNT). Latter

is an elaboration of the last two paasurams of

ThirukkuRunthANDakam. [From Sri Satakopan Swami

article]

AzhwAr addresses Gokula Krishna and similar to

Thondaradippodi AzhwAr’s Thirumaalai, this is also

primarily sung on Lord Sri Ranganathan- says Sri

Uttamoor Swami.

nithiyinaip pavaLath thooNai

neRimaiyAl ninaiya vallAr,

kathiyinaik kancan mALak

kaNtumun ANta mALum,

mathiyinai mAlai vaazhththi

vaNangkiyen manaththu van^tha,

vithiyinaik kaNtu koNta

thoNtanEn vituki lEnE 1

nidhiyinai- Like the golden treasure- hiraNya nidhi

(as uttered in Upanishads referring to Paramathma;

pavaLatthooNai- red coral pillar like Lord;

neRimaiyaal- [without Him] can not exist and sustain

ninaiya – thinking of Him (thus)

vallaar- those capable of

gathiyinai- everything [He grants them all with right

jnAnam, bhakti etc]

kanjan maaLa kaNdu- paving the way for Kamsan to get

killed;

mun aNdam- the Whole Universe [that belonged to Him

even originally earlier as well]

aaLum mathiyinai- capable of ruling [the leela

vibhuthi – the Universe]

maalai- The Lord who is always in love with His

devotees

en manatthu [hence in my mind]

vandha (OR) uvandha – entered (or) rejoice entering

into

vidhiyinai- Lord (My destination;)

vaazhtthi vaNangi- offered prayers and prostrated

kaNdu- saw Him in my mind (sakshAthkAram)

koNda- considered Him as my Swami, Master always

thoNdanaen- this eternal servant of His (I)

vidugilEn E- would never ever leave Him at all.

The Golden treasure is uttered also in Upanishad

referring to the Lord as HiraNya Nidhi. The Pillar is

made up of coral pearl and the colur is due to Sri

Mahalakshmi being with Him. He is the Pillar and hence

He is Adharam; He holds eeveryone and everything as

the Swami. Those who reside in the House with Him as

the Pillar, would reside comfortably and peacefully.

He grants the devotees all (as even the celestial

bodies see Him being so dear to those who have

unflinching devotion and faith in Him). neRimai- also

means- those who abide and are in accordance with

saasthras; Thus, those who act and perform as per his

command to do bhakti yogam or Prapatti and thereby

enabling Him to grant moksham leaving Him no room for

any partiality or bias. Thus the devotees can not even

live without thinking of Him at all. Here Sishta

paripalanam and hence follwed by Dhushta sikshaNam

(namely Kamsan killing is referred to).

Thus killing Him is not to get the kingdom; It has

been originally belonging to Him anyway; (mun aNdam)

Alum mathiyinai- is the interpretation is to Varaha

Sarama Slokam, where he says " Aham Smaraami " . Mathi

stands for mind or mental disposition. His mind set is

to think of his Bhaktha at the time, when the bhaktha

lies down on his death bed like a stone or wood during

the last moments of his life and is unable to think of

the Lord. He not only thinks of His Bhaktha at that

time, but leads him to Vaikutam by hand. kaNdu koNdEn-

I have been able to cross the bondage of samsara. I

would never ever leave the Lord, whom I have

discovered as the resident of my heart and to whom I

have praised and have prostrated, offered deep

devotion. “Thondanehn Viduhileneh " . I, your servant

will not let go of your holy feet. Mahaviswasam of the

Azhwaar is abundantly clear here.
