Dearest all,

Now AzhwAr describes the kaayika kainkaryam (after

vachaka, maanasa)

 

pAyirum paravai thannuL

paruvarai thiriththu, vAnOrk

kAyirun^ thamuthang koNta

appanai empi rAnai,

vEyirunsOlai soozhn^thu

virikathi ririya ninRa,

mAyiruncOlai mEya

main^thanai vaNangi NnEnE. 3

 

paay iru paravaithan uL- in the vast, deep ocean

paru varai- the mountain was placed

thiritthu- churned

vaanOrkku Ayirundhu- thus becoming supportive and

saviour of Devas

amudham koNda appanai – Took Mohini roopam for the

Devas alone to get the nectar;

appanai- even for the lowliest ones, He is such a

Parama upakarakan (most helpful)

empiraanai- the Lord for all ParamaikAnthins; [my Lord

as well]

vEy iru sOlai soozhnhdu- due to the bamboo gardens are

in abundance so beautifully everywhere;

viri kathir iriya ninRa- the rays of the Sun can not

enter and hence get crushed on the way (by these dense

gardens) in

mA(l) irumchOlai – ThirumaalirunchOlai divya desam

mEya mainthanai vaNanginEn – adiyEn prostrated to the

extent possible with my body here where He desirously

and most gracefully shows Himself.

 

When Devas performed Saranagati at His Lotus Feet in

ThiruppaRkadal, to save them from Asuras, He on His

own made all efforts to churn the milky ocean (which

was the very residence of His), by placing the huge

manthara mountain; took the most beautiful Mohini

avatharam and granted the nectar (that came out of

this churning) to Devas alone. I feel bad at all your

such great efforts on Your own for the sake of getting

material benefits for Devas. When the Goddess

Mahalakshmi appeared from the Milky ocean, and She

resided in His Divine Chest. Her presence would enable

Devas to continue to hold onto their raajyam. Her

glances will ensure the same. With Her in Your Chest,

now I am happy for your efforts of churning. We are

now blessed to enjoy Your darshan with Her here, thus.

When one sees Him so strong, Beautiful and divine at

Thirumala, one can visualize His strength of churning.

There He strained with poisonous air while churning

the ocean and hence here it is most appropriate to

reside in cool garden filled Thirumaliruncholai where

even the sun rays can not enter. mAl irum cholai has

become maayiruncholai.
