Guest guest
The Details of the Veda ViNNappam *******************************************In Part I , we focused on the The Veda BhAgams of KrishNa Yajur Vedam : amhithais and BrAhmaNams . The Samhithai*****************The first Part of KrishNa Yajur Vedam is TaittirIya Samhithai consisting of many mantrAs.The Samhithai is further divided into 7 KhANDams. Each KhANDam has chapters ( Prasnam) . Each Prasnamis divided further into smaller and biger anuvAkams .A fifty Padham based unit of anuvAkam is knownas PanchAdis ( Pancha dasees). These anuvAkams of Samhithai instruct us on the KarmAs to be performedand the salutations to the Vedic gods linked to those KarmAs . The BrAhmaNams**********************The second part of the KrishNa Yajur Vedam is referred to as Taittireeya BrAhmaNam . The BrahmaNam is divided into threeashtakams, Kaadakam and AruNam( AaraNyakam) . There isa view that recognizes Ashtakams alone as BrAhmaNams andidentify Kaadakam and AruNam as seperate entities . There are nine Prasnams in Taitthireeya BrahmaNam constituted by three Ashtakams . Acchidram is a part of the Third ashtakam , which has nine Prasnams . Acchidram : **************Acchidhram ( recited on EkAdasi evening after SandhyA Vandhanam ) forms the seventh Prasnam among the Nine . Acchidram is a Prasnam that pleases BhagavAn VishNu ( VishNu Preethikaram) .Acchidhram means blemishless . Various PrAyscchittha Mantrams are in Acchidra KaaNDam . Praayascchittham ( atonement ) for the mistakes made in Vedic recitation consciously or Unconsciousy are covered by Acchidhra mantrams . Acchidhram serves as a link between imperfect and perfectly performed Karmaas . Acchidhram confers thus fulness to Vedic Karmaas like Yaagams and Yajn~ams . Among the Tithis , EkAdasi has close links with VishNu . Hence , the tradition is to recite Achidram and AswamEdham on EkAdasi. Such a recitation confers immense PuNyams for the reciter and listener . AswamEdham AswamEdham ( Recited along with Acchidhram ) on the EkAdasi Evening after SandhyA Vandhanam) is known as the AsvamEdha BrahmANam . It constitutes the 8th and the 9th Prasnams of the Third Ashtakam . The PradhAna dhravyam in the AswamEdha Yaagam is Aswam or horse . It was conducted mostly by Kings in olden times . Pancha Mahaa Paathakams ( the Five heinous sins ) are destroyed by performing AswamEdha Yaagam . In today's parlance , dhravyams other than the horse are used .Kaadakam Recited on DhvAdasi Day******************************************* The three Prasnams of Kaadakam are recited in the early morning of DhvAdasi along with the four Prasnams of the Upanishad . The Agni associated with the Yaagams , Yajn~ams and Homams has immense glory .It is very powerful. The KuNtam or Vedhi , which holds that Agni also becomes glorious. It is considered that the Vedhi is the embodiment of Agni Devan . Vedhi or Agni KuNtam ( Vedic sacrificial pit) is made up of bricks assembled in a specific sequence as per the rules of Chayanam . There are many big and small Chayanams . When it is a big Vedhi , the Chayanam associated with it is known as Mahaagni Chayanam and when the Vedhi is small , the Chayanam associated with it is known as KshudhrAgni Chayanam . There are othe chayanams known as Saavithra Chayanam , NaachikEtha Chayanam , ChAthurhOthra Chayanam and Vaiswasruja Chayanam . The chayana mantrams associated with the construction of the Vedhis and their prayOgams are housed in KaaDakam . They form the backbone of PrayOga Vidhis used by Aapasthambha and BhOdhAyana Soothrams .
