Dearest all,

Alter swallowing and devouring Him, and satisfying the

hunger, now Azhwar needs water. He gets that also. He

Himself becomes the drinking water as well here.

ananRu neer uNda irumbu pol- like the heated red hot

iron that absorbes the water; (myself struch with

thaapa thrayam, and scorched)

emperumanuku- Like the water, the Lord is available

for me to drink as water

peRal arum – extremely difficult to get for this

ahankaari – lowliest self brimming with ego, pride and

anger,

en than anbu- such a desire of mine

pukkuittu- (he blessed me such a desire) to enter on

Him; (and hence)

adimai pooNdu uyndhu poanaen – I am blessed with the

most precious ornament of eternal servitude to His

Lotus feet and thus am saved.

varum – The One who is coming to me;

punal vaNNanaarai – the rainy cloud like coloured &

natured One

maruvi – approached with desire

en manatthu- in my mind

vaitthu – not letting it go anywhere else; focusing on

insaaRu pol – like the sweetest juice

paruginERku iniyavaaRE- I drank such sweetest juice -

and how sweet He was to me..

Thiruvaymozhi 10.10.5 Swami Nammazhwar says: theera

irumbuNda neeradhu pOla enaaruyirai..

aarapparuka,enakku aaraavamuthan aanaayE./

You have quenched the enormous thirst of my AthmA

(like the red hot iron absorbs the water sprinkled or

poured on it) and have drunk me completely. Thus, You

have become my INSATIABLE NECTAR (aaraa amudhan- I

never get satisfied enjoying You! You are an

insatiable nectar).

Similarly here also, AzhwAr says: due to thaapathraya,

I am scorched and now have desired to drink You and

Your Beauty, kalyANa guNAs. You not only burnt my

thapathraya; You absorbed me fully. Overawed by Your

greatness and vaibhavam, I stand as Your humble

eternal servant and now am charmed by Your cool

merciful glances after being scorched in bondage. Like

the rainy cloud nature, You shower on me without bias.

What a merciful nature! You came to me on Your own

accord with avyaaja karuna (spontaneous mercy) on me

to let me devour You and hence I would also like to

come near You and enjoy seeing You and drinking You

fully. Because You would taste not just like mere

waters; but like the sweetest sugar cane fresh juice.

You are an insatiable nectar. Hence I would continue

to drink You forever and woull never be satisfied. How

nice it would be! Thus, In the fifth Pasuram,

Thirumangai states that the Lord is the " Paruhum Neer "

, that he drinks. Since the Lord is the Insatiable

Nectar(Aaraavamudan), Azhwaar says that he devours

that nectar of the drink ceaselessly.
