Guest guest
Post 6 Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, We saw how gold was created and how it was distributed in the various parts of world. The main cause is Siva and his desire - his kaamam – desire towards the 'woman' has produced great results for the benefit of mankind. We saw features of that kaamini – the mohini – detailed by sukha maharshi – the brahma gnaani – on her features. We will continue from where we left in previous post – then she distributed the nectar to dhEvaas only – before doing so she lured the asuraas by her 'sweet words' and thus they were deceived. Point: The words 'vanchayan upasancharaih' in slokam 21 of chapter 9 by sree sukha maharshi are significant – and indicate that the Lord's whole decision and policy was to cheat the asuraas – demons, simply by speaking sweet words to them. The Lord's intention was to distribute the nectar only to the demigods and that is achieved by his sweet talks [only – since already they had a good visual feast on that lady mohini and her features and thereby in a state of mayakkam] to asuraas. Since this is not important I skip those details. Now we move on to how siva was lured by mOhini. Slokam 1, 2, 3 Suka maharishi said: The Supreme lord Hari, in the form of a woman, captivated the demons and enabled the demigods to drink the nectar. After hearing of that story, Siva, who has a bull as his transport means, went to the place where Madhusudana, the Lord, resides. Accompanied by his wife, Uma, and surrounded by his companions, the ghosts, Siva went there to see the Lord 'in and as a woman'. The Supreme lord hari welcomed Siva and Uma with great respect, and after being seated comfortably, Siva duly worshipped the Lord and smilingly spoke as follows. Slokam 4 sri-mahadeva uvaca dhEva-dhEva jagadhvyaapin jagadh ee sa jagan-maya | sarvEsaam api bhaavaanaam thvam aathma hEthur eesvarah || meaning: Lord Mahadeva said: O chief god among the gods, O all pervading Lord, master of the universe, by Your energy You are transformed into the creation. You are the root and efficient cause of everything. You are not material. Indeed, You are the Supersoul or supreme living force of everything. Therefore, You are Paramesvara, the supreme controller of all controllers. Then Siva went on praising the lord [slokams 5 to 11] and then spoke – Slokam 12, 13 My Lord, I have seen all kinds of incarnations You have exhibited by Your qualities, and now that You have appeared as a beautiful young woman, I wish to see that form of Your Lordship. My Lord, we have come here desiring to see that form of Your Lordship which You showed to the demons to captivate them completely and in this way enable the dhEvaas to drink nectar. I am very eager to see that form. Slokam 14 Suka maharshi said: When Lord VishNu was thus requested by Siva, who carries a trident in his hand, vishNu smiled with gravity and replied to Siva as follows. Slokam 15, 16 sri-bhagavan said: When the demons took away the pot of nectar, I assumed the form of a beautiful woman to bewilder them by directly cheating them and thus to act in the interest of the demigods. O best of the dhEvaas, I shall now show you My form that is very much appreciated by those who are lusty. Since you want to see that form, I shall reveal it in your presence. Point: Siva's desire to see Lord VishNu reveal the most attractive and beautiful form of a woman was certainly a joke – laughing matter affair. Siva knew that any 'so-called' beautiful woman could not agitate him. " The Daityas may have been bewildered " he thought, " but since even the dhEvaas could not be agitated, what to speak of me, who am the best of all the dhEvaas? " However, because Siva wanted to see Lord VishNu's form as a woman, Lord VishNu decided to show him a form that would immediately put him in an ocean of lusty desires. In effect, therefore, Lord VishNu told Siva in a way, " I will show you My form as a woman, and if you become agitated by lusty desires, do not blame Me. " Those who are affected by lusty desires appreciate the attractive features of a woman, but those who are above such desires, who are on a different platform of true sathva in them, they are very difficult to be bewildered. Siva is one such. Nonetheless, the supreme lord desired to test whether Siva could remain un-agitated. TEXT 17, 18 Sri suka continued: After speaking in this way, the Supreme lord VishNu, immediately disappeared, and Siva remained there with Uma, looking for Him all around with moving eyes. Thereafter, in a nice forest nearby, full of trees with reddish-pink leaves and varieties of flowers, Lord Siva saw a beautiful woman playing with a ball. Her hips were covered with a shining sari and ornamented with a belt. Point: so here is the evidence, when siva was lured by mohini, uma or paarvathi was by his side. That is what is stated in post 4. Slokam 19, 20 Because the ball was falling down and bouncing up, as She played with it, Her breasts trembled, and because of the weight of those breasts and Her heavy flower garlands, Her waist appeared to be all but breaking at every step, as Her 2 soft feet, which were coral reddish, moved here and there. The woman's face was decorated by broad, beautiful, restless eyes, which moved as the ball bounced here and there from Her hand. The 2 brilliant earrings on Her ears decorated Her shining cheeks like bluish reflections, and the hair scattered on Her face made Her even more beautiful to see. Slokam 21 As She played with the ball, the sari covering Her body became loose, and Her hair scattered. She tried to bind Her hair with Her beautiful left hand, and at the same time She played with the ball by striking it with Her right hand. This was so attractive that the Supreme Lord, in this way captivated everyone. Point: Lord Sambhu (Siva) was not to be captivated by easy means – by the beauty of a lady – but since Lord VishNu wanted to captivate Him also, He exhibited His maayaa and proved VishNu can captivate anyone, even such a strong personality as Lord Sambhu. Let siva be in mayakkam on mohini, till we receive next post. Dhasan -- Vasudevan MG
