SrImathE Gopaladesika Mahadesikaya nama:

Dearest all,

 

Thus for these bhakti yogis as well as for others for

them to enjoy the divya mangaLa vigraham always in

this very world itself, EmperumAn shows Himself so

gracefully in the divya desams. The divya desam

deities are so beauitfiul and are easily accessible

and enjoyable. yErAr muyal vittu kaakkai pin

povadhaen?

 

AzhwAr mentions here the unparalleled Supremacy of

Sriman Narayanan and mentions ThirukkaNdiyur divya

desam where His parathvam is established. Only after

realizing His Parathvam, one gets to enjoy other divya

desams like Srirangam, ThirukkaNdiyoor is mentioned

first.

 

piNtiyAr maNtai En^thip

piRarmanai thirithan^ thuNNum,

uNtiyAn sApam theerththa

oruvanoor, ulaka mEththum

kaNtiyUr arangkam meyyam

kassipEr mallai enRu

maNtinAr, uyyal allAl

maRRaiyArk kuyya lAmE? 19

 

 

piNdiaar maNdai yEndhi- for a long time it was held in

the hand and hence it started to bcome almost like the

powder, - such a skull of brahma was held

piRar manai thirithandhiu- loitering and wandering at

the door steps of otherss’ houses for begging with

that skull in the hand;

uNNun- with the help of such begging, surviving and

sustaining

muNdiyaan- the shaven headed Rudran’s

saapam theerttha- paapam (sin) was cured and dissolved

by

Oruvan- the Unparalleled One – Supreme Lord

Paravasudevan- Peerless One

Oor- divya desams are

ulagam yEtthum- as praised by the whole world, namely

thirukkaNdiyoor, thiruvarangam, thirukkacchi,

thirukadal mallai, etc.,

enRu- these divya desams are ALL the residence of the

Lord who cures all sorrows of BrahmA, Rudra and other

devas; advitheeyan – Peerless One and if they reach

there to pay their obeisance and immerse themselves in

the enjoyment of Divya mangaLa virgaham therein;

allAL- but for such bhagawathOtthamAs’ who enjoy the

Lord and with the enjoyment in His Divya Desam)

maRRaiyaarkku- for others

uyyalaamE- is there any way to get saved? (NONE AT

all)

 

AzhwAr had enjoyed in Periya Thirumozhi where AzhwAr

went from one divya desam to the other and had immense

bliss of enjoying the divya mangaLa vigraham therein.

AzhwAr here says only those bhagawathas who enjoy

these deities and immerse themselves in the guNAs and

Parathvam of the Lord would be able to focus on bhakti

yoga (as described in 19th verse) or thorugh

Saranagati to get saved quickly. Others (with the

other devathas) can not get saved.

 

ThirukkaNdiyoor Divya Desa perumAN is named Harachaapa

haran- the one who cured the sin of haran (Rudran).

 

ThiruppANAzhwAr’s thuNda veNNpiRaiyan thuyar

theerthavan also refers the same.

 

Rudra’s thuryar (sorrow) was the Kapaalam that got

stuck to his palm and the curse of his father (brahmA)

that required him to move like a nomad from place to

place begging for food. Sriman Narayana blessed Sivan

as Hara Saapa vimOchana Murthy and there after the

skull fell from Sivan’s palm and

he resumed his normal life. AzhwAr reminds us that

Sivan could not take care of his problems and if so

how can he help others ? Thus, one gets to know the

Supreme position of Sriman Narayanan from such divya

desams.

 

Sri Satakopan Swami comments: Sarvesvara Tattvam of

the Lord is saluted by the Azhwaar in this Pasuram. He

salutes Hara Saapa Vimochana Murthy of Kandiyur Divya

Desam along with the presiding Archaa Murthys of other

sacred sites such as Srirangam, Thirumeyyam, Kanchi,

Thirupper and Mallai.

 

Additional notes: It is told that sivan and brahma

both had 5 heads. To avoid confusion sivan plucked out

one head from brahma's head. That got stuck to his

hand (brahmaharthi dhOsham). To get rid of this sivan

tried all ways and means but it did not go. The

solution offered to sivan was to beg his food using

that kapaalam (maNdai Odu) as the container. Whoever

gives food so that the kapaalam is full then

automatically the kapaalam will leave the hand of

sivan. He begged to all. But only when he came to

naaraayaNan [Thirumaal] he offered his sweat (or

blood) from his Chest saying akshayyam into the

kapaalam. It got filled and left sivan's hand. So the

Lord only can give relief in such hard circumstances.

Thus, Sivan was a Karma vasyan, who got his exalted

position due to his austerities and it is Sriman

Narayanan alone, who can bless us with all kinds of

PurushArTams including Moksham.

 

Thus, from the incomplete Darsana Samanaakaram

state(resembling direct seeing) of Bhakthi Yogam, the

Azhwaar goes on to the ACTUAL experience of feasting

one's eyes on the Subhaasrayam (Thirumeni) of the

Archamurthys of the different Divya Desams.
