Guest guest
Dear sri vaishNava perunthagaiyeer, We saw rukmiNee as well as aaNdaaL saying "It would otherwise be like a jackal attempting to carry away the fare of the lion " . [viz. themselves – who are to be enjoyed by the lord by marrying them] and nobody else. The slokam we saw in previous post. 'maanidavarkku enRu pEchchup padil vaazhagillEn' – even as a casual talk among people that my husband will be an ordinary human being – aaNdaaL says - I will not be alive – such is her strict condition in her selection of her husband. See the other queens of krishNa also just repeat that 'sentiment' - if you want to call it as sentiment - This talk comes when 'krishNaa' – dhoupathee met the queens of krishNa. [in bhaaratham krishNa means lord, krishNaa means dhroupathee] RukmiNi – 10-83-8: Sree RukmiNee said: 'Like a lion taking his share from a herd of goats and flock of sheep, took He who puts the dust of His feet upon the heads of invincible fighters, me away when the kings with their bows stood ready in order to offer me to Sisupaala; may the feet of Him, the abode of Sree, be my object of worship [see also 10.52-54]. 10-83-12: Sree Mitravindhaa said: 'During my svayamvara coming forward stole, He, me, away the way the enemy of the elephants [a lion] claims his share from a pack of dogs; after defeating the kings and my brothers insulting Him, took He me to His capital where Sree resides; may there for me, life after life, be the service of washing His feet [see also 10.58: 31] 10-83-13,14 Sree Sathyaa said: 'Seven great bulls most strong and vital with the sharpest horns, by my father arranged to test the prowess of the kings, destroyed the pride of the heroes; but they were quickly subdued and tied up by Him with the ease of children playing with young calves of goats. This way paying for me with His valor took He me, protected by maidservants, with Him, with an army of four divisions along the road defeating the kings; may there be my servitude to Him [see also10.58: 32-55]. 10-83-34: They, the kings, like village dogs with a lion, went after Him, while some of them to check Him on the path, stood ready with their bows raised. 10-83-35. From the floods of arrows shot from Saarnga fell some of them with their arms, legs and necks severed, while some others, gave it up and fled. Why I repeat it is - to show how uniformly the queens express themselves in same seniment. Now let us see next slOkam of rukmiNee in the love letter to kishNa starting 'sruthvaa guNaan --- – This slOkam is not an expression of love – for that is already done. – It is neither a prayer to krishNa, – It is "Hey krishNa - if --- " poortha ishTa dhaththa niyama vratha dhEva vipra guru archana aadhibhi alam bhagavaan para eesah | aaraadhhithO yadhi gadhaa agraja Ethya paaNim gruhNaathu mE na dhamaghOsha sutha aadhyO~anyE || 10-52-40 meaning: If I have sufficiently worshipped the Supreme lord, by pious works, sacrifices, charity, rituals, and vows, and also by worshipping the demigods, brahmaNaas and gurus, then may krishNa, the elder to sree gadha, come and take my hand, and not dhamaghosha's son [sisupaala] or anyone else. Point: 1. Is it a question? Or an answer? Or a challenge? Or a request? Or an expression of a wish? Or is it a ' if ' and ' then ' loop condition – as in the modern day "software" jargon? – like that 'maanidavarkku enRu pEchchup padil vaazhagillEn' of aaNdaaL. I am more confused and not able to classify. Dear bhakthaas, You can do so. 2. If I say, 'perhaps aaNdaaL copied what rukmiNee said' – am I wrong? 3. For anybody having doubts on what are the different ways in which supreme lord krishNa can be or is to be worshipped, rukmiNee gives the answer - in her love letter. 4. We know for all vrathams poojaas etc etc, the supreme lord krishNa is the one who has to give the phalan – the normal circumstances being so, why this straight ------- to krishNa himself. note: Gadha is another brother of krishNa like balaraama – this name or naama 'gadhaagraja' comes in sree vishNu sahasra naamam also – no.764] let us continue in next post as length increases.
