Guest guest
SrI: Garudan is found in the standing position with folded hands or in Kneeling position or with folded hands or in flying position with the Lord on His back . He carries the Lord's sacred feet in His palms during Garuda Sevai to reveal those feet as our sole protection . Four forms of Garuda are seated on the walls of the temples like Taarkshyaa et al .They are for the protection of the Lord's temple . Some times Garudan will have 2 hands and other times , He will have four hands ( two carrying VishNu lakshaNa of Disc and Conch) . Most of the times , He will be placed opposite the Lord and in rare cases , He will be on the same peetam with the Lord (SrivilliputthUr , ThErazhunthUr) . Please refer to the e-books on Garudan in the Sundara Simham series ( Garuda DaNDakam) and Ahobilavalli series ( Garuda PanchAsath) for more details on Garudan & His glories . Guest guest
Dear Sir, From childhood adiyen felt attracted to Srirangam Garudazhwar by the majestic posture and the huge form that instills enormous reassurance to the bhaktas and removes fear. Adiyen came across the enclosed picture of Garuda from an Indonesian Museum (probably from Bali). Incidentally, the official airline of Indenesia is named as Garuda. dasan swaminathan "Dr. Sadagopan" <yennappan wrote: SrI: Garudan is found in the standing position with folded hands or in Kneeling position or with folded hands or in flying position with the Lord on His back . Guest guest
---Garudan is the embodiment of Vedhas. His wings represent each Vedha. His breath is full of Vedhic sounds. His sound is Pranavakaram. So when Garudan carries Sriman Narayana on his shoulders, he delares to the world that the Sriman Narayana is the Supreme Deity; in other words, the Vedha Purushan declares that the Supreme Deity is none other than Sriman Narayanan. That is why, Garuda Sevai in the temples is considered important. This is the explanation given by PBA Swamy. Incidentally, have we ever come across any vahanam of any other deity possessing even rudimentary knowledge of Vedhas? Guest guest
Respectful SwAmin, No denial of the Para one. Why not we restrain ourselves to talk about other deities who may be dear to others? dAsan Anbil SrInivAsan --- madhavandoraiswamy <madhavandoraiswamy wrote: > ---Garudan is the embodiment of Vedhas. Guest guest
Thanks for all your comments. I asked this question, because we plan to install Sri Garudan in our temple in the village. We have it with its knee bent and folded hands. I was wondering its significance. I will send an invitation to all of you. We request you to attend the installation function. Guest guest
I must say, referring Periya Thiruvadi as 'it' is NOT acceptable. wrote: Thanks for all your comments. Guest guest
AdiyEn fully agree. There is no use in installing a nitya soori like SrI Garuda when we have no mind-set.
