Guest guest
athathin pathAm nAL thOnRiya Achyuthan Deciphering the Stars PeriyAzvar's conCern for EmpeurmAn's welfare knows no bounds. In fact that is the reason why he is known as ' PeriyAzvAr'. The feelings and anxiety of YAsOdhA gripped PeriyAzvar who was afraid that this 'kamsan' would endanger His life any time. Scouting all the villages and probing into each new born child the identiy of the divine child was sought to be established, only to slay the child. This was the lurking fear in our PeriyAzvAr. This spontaneoulsy transformed into pAsuram-s. (Enemies can be endangered by some evil manthram-s by naming them and also by giving their stars) As we know KrshNA was born in the star 'Rohini'. AzvAr did not want to indicate this directly, lest people like kamsan would take the cue and find out the whereabouts of Sri KrshNa. Hence, he ingeniosly coined the sentence ' athathin pathAm nAL thONRiya achyuthan' 1-2-6 of PeriyAzvAr Thirumozhi. If we count clockwise from the star -hastham- we will end up in ThiruvONam. If we count anti-clockwise we will arrive at the star 'Rohini'. Both fit EmperumAn, but for non-devotees this may lead to confusion. this is another unique way of presenting the star of EmperumAn dasan vanamamalai padmanabhan
