Guest guest
To Sri Sadagopan Swamin, Swamin, You have been very kind to educate one and all about various aspects of our sishtaacharam and anushtaanam. The explanation you have given for the name of the present year is extremely educative. But then I earnestly seek your explanation for the next year also, i.e. Virodhi. In fact your admirers would request you to compile the meanings of all the 60 names of the Tamil Year and let the ignorant know how all of them link with each other giving a sequential meaning for the entire circle of sixty years. I am sure, when our ancestors have named these years with the names we know, there must be some meaning behind each and there must be a holistic unity in these names. Request you kindly to consider this request for giving us enlightenment. Dasan Raghunathan *** Dear Sriman Sadagopachar swmain, take your own time to compile this and put it as a separate article if possible, which will be very much useful for future reference. Also it will be convenient to take the required portion of current year text to circulate in groups every year. nvs
Guest guest
SrI: Daer Sriman RaghunAthan & Sri Vaasu VaadhyAr Swamy : Thank you both for your mails . I will do my best to create a list of articles on the Vedic and PurANic significance of the names of 60 years in the Hindu calendar starting from Prabhava and ending with Akshaya Samvathsaram . I will try to release as an ebook in the Ahobilavalli or a future ebook series . PramANams have to be backed up by yukthi Vaadham in some cases since some of the names of Samvathsarams could be abbreviated . versions of biggger tatthvams . Vaikunta Vaasi Sevaa SwamigaL , a great Swamy Desika Bhakthar has posted brief essays on some of these in past years . I do not have them . Sriman Anbil Ramaswamy , owner-Moderator of Sri Ranga Sri might have some of them . Sri Ghanta Mani , son of Sri SevA Swamy also might have some of these posted article . I will ask Sriman Anbil Sawmy and Sri Ganta Mani . Anyone else having this information from previous years' SevA magazine is also requested to contact me . I would like to request your help to have access to them before starting on this kaimkaryam . Regarding your immediate question on the significance of the name of the next Samvathsaram , " VirOdhi ", you can view it as a short notation for Moksha PrApthi VIRODHI vargam and UpAya anushtAnam to overcome them . Sundara Simham book #12 ( Aruttha Panchakam/ Artha Panchakam) and Sundara Simham #107 ( VirOdha ParihAram) have lot of relevant materials , which need summarization later . Guest guest
Respected Sri Sadagopan, Indeed, let us all offer our humble prayers at the Lotus feet of the divya dhampathigal and usher in the new year that offers everyone lots of happiness, satisfaction & contentment. The group is honoured to have knowledgeable people like you, Sri Vasu Vadhyar & others. This is a great learning ground for young people like me. I would sum up with the First line of Thyagaraja swamy's Keertanai in Raga Sri, " endaro mahanubavaulu, andariki vandanamulu " { i offer my respects to all the great/worthy people}. Adiyen, Lakshminrusimhan. *** Very kind of you. Consider about deleting the old content before sending it to groups, which I expect more than the respects and thanks. It will reduce most my time. nvs
