Dearest all,

The parrot having realized that its words make her happy, continues to utter the

Para, vyooha vibhava archA moorthis. Since she (Parakalanayaki) is not able to

utter any more due to her suffering and languishing, the parrot sings about

other Divye Desa perumAL as that is the thArakam for the nayaki. That is heard

by mother as well and both are very happy and the mother narrates the same to

her friend here.

muLaikkathiraik kuRungudiyuL mugilai moovaa

muLai kathirai – like the bud He resides in the Solar system (as the

indweller)

(in ThirukkuRunkudi Divya Desam)

uLmugilai – not just the clouds that hang around on top of the mountains; the

ones that enter into the tall palaces of the divya desam as well

moovaa moo ulagum – beyond the three worlds

kadandhu appaal – there is Nithya vibhoothi (Srivaikunta divya lokam)

mudhalaay ninRa- He is the unparalleled Lord of all worlds residing in that

Srivaikuntam eternally

aLappariya Aar amudhai – Immeasurable PoorNAnandhan;

arangam mEya andhaNanani – The pristinely pure Sri Ranganathan;

andhaNartham chinthaiyaanai – One who is always in the minds of Brahmins;

ThirutthaNkaa – In the divya desam of ThirutthaNkaa, at Kanchipuram

viLakkoLi maragathatthai – the precious emerald gem stone named ViLakkoLi

perumAL;

ve:kaavil thirumaalai – the Lord of Thiruve:kaa (or Sriya: Pathi- Thiru +

maalai)

paadak kaettu – enjoyed listening to the chirping /singing thus (as above)

kiLiyE- oh parrot! By grooming you (or rearing you)

payan petrEn- I have been richly benefited.

Varuga- Please come near me (respectfully calling the parrtot towards her)

Madak kiLiyai- had she enot taught- the parrot would have been ignorant of

perumAL; to such a parrot

Kaikooppi – folded her hands (as if this has helped her significantly)

reverently

vaNanginAL – she paid her namaskaram.

yE- this is also a marvel… and wonder.

muLaikaathir- The dawning sun is most beautiful and shining to look at. He is

bright. The eyes feel refreshened to see the same. Similarly, the Lord of

Paramapadha nAThan is also showing Himself at every divya desams; also the

soorya maNdala madhyasthE- (one who is an in-dweller of the Sun) is also

referred to perhaps.

Moovaa moovulagum- It can also mean “The One who is above all three types of

Jeevathmas- Baddhar, Mukthar, Nithyasuris

appaal- Beyond the praakritha lokam (beyond Leela vibhoothi)

Aramudhu- aLappariya Aramudhu- the insatiable nectar- the immeasurable One –

yathO vaachO nivartthanthE; aprA Apya manasaa sa: - where the words can not

reach; the mind also can not comprehend Him any further;

viLakkoLiyai maragatthai- Here AzhwAr refers to the Sriya: Pathi Sriman

Narayanan; the Lord along with Mahalakshmi; Swamy Desikan also mentions in

Saranagati Deepikai- dheepa samaavapaasam AjAnathO maragatha prathimam vapus

thE…

vaLartthadhanaaal- Here when Acharyas enjoy sishyas’ accurate and sincere

utterances, they feel happy and praise them. But can one fold hand and pay

obeisance? kaNNapuram thozhum piaLLaiyai piLlai yenRu yeNNapeRuvarE… They only

pay respect to the divine uttranes made by the disciples.

Also the parrot is only a bird and not a sishya.. and hence one can fold hands

and pay the pranamams.

Or it may also mean – Parakala nayaki listening to those divine names of

duvvya desams from parrot, folded hands and paid obeisance to those perumAL.

Or Parakalanaayaki has been made happier and her languishing is now lessened by

listening to parrot. She has been shown the divya desams and the names and hence

she looks at the parrot like the very acharyan himself- it may be said.

When the parrot said all these divya desams, perhaps the Lord Himself hass

entered into the parrot for her sake and hence she folded her hands and paid

obesisnace. Like Devahoothi and Kapila.

Here it can also be mentioned abot Swamy Desikan refrring himself to the parrot

that was groomed by his maternal uncle and acharyan Swami appuLLAr. Perhaps

Parakala naayaki sees Swamy Desikan here and pays her obeisance to Vedantha

acharyan.

Dear Sri Srinath Swamin

Thanks for your email and appreciation as well as the comment.

adiyEn is completely disqualified for making any imagination on AzhwAr srisookthis. adiyEn (with the little knolwdge of Tamil, English and limitless acharyan's anugraham) attempts to translate from Sri Uttamur Swami vyakhyanams which itself is based on purvacharyas' commentaries.

adiyEn does not add any further..

It is the respect of ours towards Swami Desikan and connect these lines for Parakalanayaki's respectful pranamams to Vedanthacharyan... After all- Vedantha Desikan is "Kalyian urai kudi koNda karutthudaiyOn..."

In fact, Namamazhwar's verse is also interpreted and commented thus:

Namalwar in turn has mentioned about Bhasyakarar and Thirumangai Alwar in Thiruvaimoyi- Purvacharyas comment.... And what more, the same Nammalwar in Thiruvirutthaam mentions about Swami Desika.naanilam vaaykkoNdu nannIraRamenRu kOthukoNda, vEnilaNY chelvansuvaiththumizh paalai, kadanthaponnE! kaalnilam thOyndhu viNNOr thozhum!kaNNan vekkaavudhu, am poon thEniLanjOlaiyap paaladhuep paalaikkum sEmaththathE!!In the third and fourth lines of the above pasuram NammAzhwAr mentions about Thiruvekaa and ThiruthaNkaa (thooppul), where PoigaiAzhwAr and Swami Desikan wereborn respectively.PoigaiAzhwAr was the first AzhwAr avathaaram (Aippasi ThiruvONam) and Swami Desika was last AchArya avathaaram (Puraataasi ThiruvONam). If we count from Aippasi, Purattaasi is the last month. This shows that it is only good that is going to happen to all because of them

"eppaalaikkum SemaathhE"Our Kulapathi addresses Swami Desika as a person from Thoopul who will help every body by giving them all time well being. Our Poorvacharyar's vyakyanam for "eppaalaikkum SemaathhE", is that Swami Desika proved Nammalwar's words true by giving us the Saranagathy thatvam. Because of our Thoopul pillai, Thoopul is always capable of giving well being "eppaalaikkum SemaathhE"!

let's see what Shri Suka had told in Srimad Bhagavatham :Kalau khalu bhavishyanti NarayanaparayanahKvachit Kvachit mahabhagah Dramideshu ca bhurisah !!Tamraparani nadi yatra Krtamala PayasviniKaveri ca maha-bhaga Pratici ca Mahanadi !!-- Bhagavatham 11.5.38, 39"Great souls devoted to Bhagavan Narayana will be born during Kaliyuga. These saints will be born in great numbers in the fertile tamil country, watered by sacred rivers like Tamaraparani, Krta-mala (Vaigai), palar, Kaveri as well as those that flow westward".All of us know that Nammalvar was born in Thirukkurugur on the banks of the river Tamaraparani. It is hence clear that Shri Suka during the purana Kala itself hasmentioned about Shri Nammalwar's avatara, in Kali Yuga.

When Bharathi's "aaduvOmE paLLu paaduvOmE Anandha suthanthiram adaindhu vittOm (even before independence, he sang that "let us sing and dance that we have attained Independence..), is admired for his dheergadharisanam, why not greatest AzhwArs on Acharya purushas to follow subsequently?

Hope it is clear and there is no apacharam committed.

By these, in fact, we offer our praNamams to both AzhwArs and Acharyas.

Erduite scholars may add and forgive me and correct- if adiyEn said something wrong..

Madhavakannan Swamin:

Your imagination was really not in good taste here. As a true Sri Vaishnavan it really hurts to see those words in the last para. You are doing a good work by giving detailed explanations to Tirumangai mannan's pasurams. But saying Parakala Nayaki paying obeisance to Swamy Desikan is totally out of context here. In our Guruparampara Lineage Alwars are superior to any acharya, a learned person like you should not forget this fact. Swamy Desikan came long after Kaliyan and even in one's wildest imagination there is no question of Kaliyan seeing Swamy Desikan through any of his pasurams. Even Swamy Desikan would not admire your comments here.

Please correct that.

Dear Sri Srinath Swamin

Thanks for your pointer.....rightly...

Good you mentioend else- I would have missed my asahyaapacharam and hurt the feelings of my respected fellow srivaishnavas.

At the outset, adiyEn seeks forgiveness for any unintentional apacharams committed to the srivaishnavas....

adiyEn merely touched upon the glories of Swamy Desikan as related to AzhwArs... That in now way belittles Swami Manavala Maamuni or any acharya of Srivaishnavam for that matter....

Swami Manavala maamuni was indeed a pheneomenal acharya and his acharya bhakthi for Bhagavad Ramanuja was amazing and divine.... His Arthi prabandham brings tears in one's eyes....

adiyongal always make it a point to recite saatrumurai of both kalais in any sathsangam of Srivaishnavas in Singapore...

our respect for reverence for all acharyas is the same and is profound.

Sincere apologies.

Let us contiune to enjoy azhwar /acharya srisukthis. Please send me email offline on the subject if any.

Dear Madhavan Swamin:

Thanks for the detailed explanation and I really appreciate your effort in sparing time to answer me. But still I totally disagree with you on the fact that Swamy Desikan is the last acharyan. How can you mislead people with such a false fact. Infact the whole world of Sri Vaishnavism knows Swamy Manavala Mamunigal as the last Acharyan in the Guruparampara. Even in the Birth Place of Swamy Desikan that is Kanchi, Swamy Manivala Mamunigal gets the last Arulappadu Mariyadhai after Swamy Desikan, to prove he is our Last Acharyan. The Guruparampara is incomplete without Swamy Mamunigal, taking into account Lord Ranganatha himself as taken him as his Acharyan. That's why on the day of Swamy Mamunigal's theertham which falls on Maasi Madam, Krishna patcham Dwadasi, all Thaligai to Mamunigal Sannidhi will come from Namperumal as His Acharyan's Mariathai, you can verify this

fact from any Vaishnavaite at Srirangam.

Please accept and correct your great apachaaram here. Its indeed clear from your below commentary you just want to give a biased picture and doing a kalai dwesham and nothing else. I am indeed sorry for the harsh words used.

Dasan.

Srinath.
