Dearest all,

Having heard the divne names of the Lord from her pet parrot, and enjoyed,

Parakala nayaki is all excited and plays Veena and sings herself. The parrot,

and the nayaki all now sing and she plays the veena too...

OR the Veena and the parrot are not enjoying while singing (while she does)

kalluyarndha nedumathiLsoozh kacchi mEya

kaLiRenRum kadalkidandha kaniyE! enRum,

alliyampoo malarppoygaip pazhana vEli

melviralkaL sivappeythath thadavi yaangE

men_kiLipOl migamizhaRRum enpE thaiyE. 15

en pEthai – My daughter;

sol – the meaningful words (or words themselves)

uyarndha – unparalleled

nedu veenai – the long Veena (musical instrument)

mulai mEl thaangi– (she) holds and places in her tender breasts (and plays);

thoo muRuval nalga iRai yE thOnRa – she smiles slightly with the pure white

milky teeth shown

mel viralgaL sivappu yeydha aangE thadava– tender fingers are reddened by her

playing the Veena

mel kiLi pOl- with her parrot like sweet shrill voice

kal uyarndha nedu mathiL – the tall ramparts made of rocky stones

soozh kacchi – surround the divine divya desam kanchipuram

mEya kaLiRu – the male strong elephant that resides (at such a divine place)!

kadal kidandha kaniyE – the sweetest fruit that reclines on the milky ocean!

alli am poomalar – the pollen filled fresh flowers

poykai pazhanam – have filled the ponds and fertile fields

vEli – surround as the fence;

aNi azhundhoor – in the most beautiful ornament like Thiruvazhundhoor divya

desam

ninRa uvandha ammaan – standing here joyfully as Sarva Swami;

miga mizhaRRum – She (thus sings elaborately with raga Alaapanam);

kacchi mEya kaLiRu – Male elephant of kacchi; probably referring to all divya

desams in and around Kzanchipuram; Tall rampart surrounded divya desam perhaps

refers to only Kanchi puram (atthigiri perumAL). Reclined milky ocean PaaRkadal

nAthan and standing Thiruvazhundhoor Divya desam perumAL are referred to. And

hence purvacharyas refer to Thiruppadakam (instead of Kacchi);

Thirumazhisai AzhwAr’s “ninRadhu enthai ooragatthu; irundhadhu yendhai

paadagatthu; anRu ve:kaNaikkidandhu… “

He shows Himself thus in all three postures to Parakala naayaki. Perhaps she

wants to hold Him on her tender breasts like she holds and places the Veena. She

wants Him to follow her songs as the parrot does.. She longs for the same. What

a great anubhavam!
