SrimathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya nama:

Dearest all,

 

Once and then twice, she has sent the messengers and hence she has decided that

He would certainly come and hence until He arrives, Parakala nayaki decides to

narrate her samslesham and vislesham.

 

The ladies, who languish during separation, get into some kind of quarrel (sort

of) when the naayakan arrives and express their anger and pangs of separation).

That is natural. Similarly, when He comes, I would also let Him suffer like what

I have been or I would suffer in front of Him as well for Him to understand the

pain. This is the way poorvars interpreted. Or it may also mean: I would drop

off all my anger and would not quarrel with Him. I would love to embrace Him

tight when He arrives and only till then, I would suffer from these pangs of

separation. After He arrives, I can even tie Him down with my love and I am

confident and capable of that. Until such time comes, I would survive and hold

my breath.

 

anRaayar kulamagaLuk karaiyan Rannai

alaikadalaik kadainthadaittha ammaan Rannai,

kunRaatha valiyarakkar kOnai maaLak

koduncilaivaaych sarandhuranthu kulanga Laindhu

then ilankai araN sidhaRi – for crushing and destroying the tall ramparts of

most beautiful lankA,

avuNan maaLa – for killing raavaNaasura

senRu – crossed the deep vast ocean;

ulagam moonRinai thirindhu- measured the huge three worlds during trivikrama

avathAram;

Or thEr – unmatched chariot of Arjuna

man ilangu – with all kings taking part in

bharathatthai – the field of Kuruskshethra battle;

maaLa oorndha – (He) drove the chariot to conduct the battle to victory (for

paaNdavas)

varai maruvin maa kaLiRRai – that huge mountain like male elephant (my Lord)

vaaraay thozhee – oh my dear friend!

naan – such helpless me

enthan ponilangu – to my golden coloured (which have become pale now)

mulai kuvattil – breasts (as the pillar)

pootti koNdu – would tie Him down to

pogaamai vallEn aay- capable of that so that He does not leave me ands go

anywhere

pulavi yeydhi – The suffering that I am undergoing now with

angam ellaam- all parts of my body

inbam yeydha- in order to get happiness in front of Him

(at all times)

ninaindhu – I would always be thinking of Him and His deeds and melt in

contemplation.

 

Of my dear friend! He would certainly come. When He comes, don’t look at Him

even. You also listen to me. Don’t smile at Him even. He destroyed lankA and

raavaNan. He measured the whole Universe. He drove chariot so successfully in

the vast battle field of Kuruskhethra. He thinks that He is so victorious and

strong like the mountain. He is proud of Himself – perhaps because of such

grand deeds. I would time that elephant down. I am capable of that. I would hold

Him down to my tender breasts. He would not go anywhere else after that. He

would behave like a tamed elephant.

 

I would not like to hug Him and embrace Him subsequently. If I unite with Him,

then, He would leave after some time with me. Then, He does not come for many

days. I would rather suffer than sinusoidal pleasures and pains alternately.

 

Just by seeing Him, I would gain happiness and my body parts would enjoy as

well. That is enough for me. I would pass my time thinking of all the troubles

that He has been giving me. Let Him also listen to my problems. I want to see

Him suffer hearing my pains and pangs of separation. That is adequate for me.

 

Poottik koNdu – I would hold him down to my breasts; Thus, I would not touch

Him, though I am capable of tying Him down to.

 

Thus, Parakala Nayaki turns to her friend in desperation and describes her

helpless state due to the separation from her Lord. She remembers the times she

was with Him (SamslEsham) and says that she will prefer the sorrow of Vislesham

(separation) for fear of gaining Him back and losing Him again
