Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas: This mail was sent on 31st August 2006 in response to a query by svasumathi10 regading Divyadesams needing urgent attention. I am re-sending it for your kind information. If anyone of you is interested in contributing any service, may please contact me at Ramanbil with a copy to Dr. V. Sadagopan Yennappan or call me on my cell phone # (770) 876 - 9188 I am marking a copy of this mail to Dr. Sadagopan in connection with his recent mail " Think it over " We can draw up a plan and proceed further. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy ===================================================================== Dear friends: In continuation of my previous mail, I give below a list of Divyadesams consecrated by Azhwars that are in dire need of help. 1. TIRUVELUKKAI: Azhagiya singa PerumaaL (Periyaazhwar 3 Pasurams, Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram) This is in a totally dilapidated condition with only PerumaaL, Thaayaar and GaruDan Sannidis. Even the Rajagopuram is NOT seen! (D80) 2.TIRUNEERAGAM: Jagadeesa PerumaaL near UlagaLanda PerumaaL koil. (Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram) (D 82) Even the Moolavar moorthi is MISSING. (Long ago, when I visited this Divyadesam, I was told that since the moorthi had become chipped off (binnam). If a moorthi is " binnam " , there must always be a way to restore the same with reference to Aagamas) 3.NILATHINGAL THUNDAM: (Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram). (D 83) This is within the Ekambreswarar koil. There is NO Utsava moorthi, NO Poojas, NO Annual Utsavams 4. TIRUKKAARAGAM: KaruNaakarap PerumaaL (Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram) (D 84) Not much is known about the original temple, PushkaraNi etc. 5. TIRUKKAARVAANAM: KaLvap PerumaaL (Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram) (D85) As above, Not much is known about the original temple, PushkaraNi etc. 6.TIRUKKALVANUR: Aadivaraahap PerumaaL, Anjivalli Naachiyaar (Tirumangai Azhwar 1 Pasuram) (D88) This is inside Kamakshi amman Temple. The PushkaraNI known as " NityapushkaraNI " mentioned in the Puranas is NOT seen now! Utsavams as in other VishNu temples are NOT performed here! It is a wonder how successive promoters engaged in Temple renovations collecting funds through so-called " Trusts " all over India for so long, do not seem to have taken steps to restore the glory of these DIVYADESAMS ! Of course, my remarks on the conditions of Divyadesams are based on the remarks incorporated in the book " Divya Desa DarshaNam " published by Sri KrishNa Sabha, Mumbai 400 022 (1st Edition, May 1966 and 2nd Edition November 2003) and also my impressions when I visited them long ago. Numbers in brackets as also the comments are as given in the said book I do not know the present status and whether any efforts had been taken since.
