Guest guest
Events during the Week end of 22nd and 23rd September 2007 Last week end, we had a couple of memorable events: Sunday the September 2007 was Purattasi Sravanam, the Tirunakshatram of Tiruvenkatamudaiyaan, Swami Desikan and Brahma Tantra Swatantra Parakala Mutt Jeeyar. You know that every year, we used to celebrate the events on a big scale with Tirumanjanam, recitals et al in the company of Bhagavatas. This year, it was perhaps the Sankalpam of both Venkatanathans that we should participate in the “Bhoomi Pooja” for a new temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara. It was my bhaaghyam to participate in the holy function by way of my observance of the Tirunakshatram celebrations this year (at the temple) The function started early in the morning at the premises of the present “Shiva- Vishnu Temple of Greater Cleveland” at Parma. A large gathering of Bhagavatas assembled and Sri Sridharan Swami, Bhattachariar performed the ground-breaking rituals with meticulous care duly assisted by the other priests of the temple. Later, the beautiful Utsava moorthis of Perumal and Ubhayanachimar gave Darshan at the main hall. In the evening there was a scintillating dance performance by Smt. Sujatha Srinivasan and her disciples at Tri-C Auditorium, as a Fund raising effort for the proposed temple. On Saturday, 22nd September 2007, it was my pleasure to be in the company of an All- American audience at “Alterra Sterling House (Senior Care Facility) at 1277 S. Sawburg Rd, Alliance, OH 44601. I was invited to give a talk on the Topic titled "India and Indian Culture". They had arranged to take me from Cleveland to their place at Alliance and back. As I was associated with running three old age homes back in India and the audience of about 50 plus Senior Citizens ranging in age from 50 to 99 hailing from different countries and linguistic groups was eager to learn about Indian culture, it was my pleasure to brief them on the subject. Excerpts from the talk are given separately for your information. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy
