ShriParthasarathy did not grace Goda with his presence; hence in the

month of Panguni, Goda sought the help of Manmathan, the God of Love.

She washed the front porch of the house, decorated it and drew

pictures of Manmathan carrying bow, arrow and garlands with fine white

sand. She showered him with sweet-smelling fragrant flowers and

requested him thus:

" I have drawn your form in the ruby studded porch of this house and I

beseech thee and thy younger brother! Help me attain Nandagopalan's

fragrant shoulders quickly.

" Think about this: " She urged the handsome Kaaman, " How can the havis

that is fit only for devas be touched by dogs? In the same way, if my

name is linked with mere mortals, I cannot live! "

This nonbu also did not give her the desired result! Overcome with

sadness, she even neglected playing with her friends. She spent all

her time singing Krishna's praise – she did not eat, her lips were

dry; and her bangles did not stay on her thin arms. Her friends were

worried and tried to comfort her by fanning her with fans made of

aromatic roots. But Goda was thinking only of Krishna's rasaleela.

" The ground of brindavan must have done many good deeds- since the

love stricken gopis danced with soft footed Krishna " , she lamented.

" What penance did His flute do, that it got to be held by Him and was

in His mouth tasting his lips " She wondered!

" So did His Panchajanyam – Hey! " She called out to Panchajanyam.

" What does Madhavan's lips smell like or how is the taste? Does it

smell like camphor and taste like the ambrosia of lotus? " She

enquired of Panchajanyam.

" Dear friends! Bring the dust under the feet of my Lord and rub it

over me- that is the only medicine for my sickness " she told her friends.

Goda did not eat, nor sleep and fainted often – and during one such

fainting fit, she had a dream!
