Guest guest
Goda's dream Goda forgot herself in her love for her Lord, not being able to sleep even during the cool moonlit lights. " Who says that Chandran has cool rays and Manmathan has just five arrows? " complained, the lovesick Goda. She was overcome by fatigue and closed her eyes in exhaustion and fell into a fitful sleep; a little later, she woke up with smiles and with wide- eyed wonder at what she had dreamt! Her dream augured that her wish of taking Krishna's hand was going to be fulfilled! And she spoke to her friends thus: " Girls! I had an extraordinary dream! Listen to what I saw in my dream! " There were numerous pillars made of coral, and on these were purna kalashas made of gold; and banana trees were tied to these pillars. The walls were studded with rubies. There was a tall crystal platform that had emerald steps leading up to it. The platform had canopies of golden drapes tied above it. It was decorated with streamers of pearl strings, beautiful limes, and decorative coconut fibres. " On this beautiful platform Brahma, Shiva and all the Devas were seated. Azhagiya MaNavaaLan came on to this stage resplendent with divine jewels and dressed as the bridegroom! All the devas tied the sacred `kauthuka thread' to my wrist and Parvathi Devi helped me wear the new silk and Azhakiya maNavaaLan's mandaara maala. Vasishta and other sages chanted auspicious manthras. There were drums beating, conches blowing and dancers dancing – and in the auspicious hour, Bhagavan clasped my hand – it was like Shri Rama taking Sita's hand in matrimony! " Then, after giving many ahuthis to the Agni, Bhagavan smiled and took my right foot and placed it on the `Ammi'; and we came around the Agni and showered puffed rice onto it! " Then Vasishta and other sages honoured the wishes of our relatives and seated us together and showered us with Akshatai and blessed us! " Then, both of us came around the city in procession on an elephant and entered our bedchamber. " Oh, girls, then I woke up! But, I can't find this Mahavishnu anywhere! He took away my heart with him! " Goda started lamenting again and she said – " You know, Krishna left the gopis after rasakridA! How can we believe that he will come for us? Oh this Cupid has no mercy! Won't the cry of the cuckoos stop even for a minute? All these are giving me no peace! Even the night seems to be endless! " While Goda was in such dire straits, the night gave way to dawn. Her friends related her dream to her father. Having observed many " nonbus " and sung Krishna's praises, Goda's Krishna still did not grace her with his presence. So, Goda wished to go to Srirangam and was waiting for her father to give her permission to go to Srirangam. To be continued…..
