Guest guest
Hi, I believe and truly love Lord Sree Hari. and I also realise the importance of the Pancha Samskara. But my humble quest here are: 1) Is the ritual really that important? I mean, what if a devotee does not go through it? Because I haven't gone through it yet.. 2)Isn't bhakti alone enough to attain Lord Sree Hari's grace? In the Gita, Bhagawan Sree Krishna says, if we offer even a leaf in adoration@bhakti, he will accept it.. so does the importance of Pancha Samskara really governs over our bhakti? 3) If you think going through Pancha Samskara is of utmost importance, how and where do I go about it here in Malaysia? I hope the members in this group don't mind with my questions.Pls enlighten me.. namo Narayana..
Guest guest
Sri RAmajayam SrimathE GopAla DEsika MahA DEsikAya Namaha Dear Sri.Kumar, Our religion is leaning on JnAna, AnushtAna and VairAghya. In General : SamskAras that are mandatory by ShAstric injunction, are better to be followed, knowing the underlying meanings than reasoning out. For a Brahmin male, Upanayanam is the most important samskAra and for a Sthree it would be marriage. For becoming a Sri Vaishnavite, PanchasamskAram is mandatory. MantrOpatEsam, Bhagavad ArAdhanam as well as Rahasyas cannot be revealed without this initiation. Also AdiyEn am sure you would agree that you agree with other SamskAras like wedding, where we never reason out (ie. Like saying we are compatible we do not need a wedding ceremony etc). Guest guest
Dear Swamin, >>>>>Our religion is leaning on JnAna, AnushtAna and VairAghya.<<< That may be requirement for Acharya whom we approach for Praptti. Sharanagathi/Prapatti is the basis of our (SV) religion. As per Bhagavadgita, That is projected as the simplest of the paths, which anyone (irrespective of caste, creed, birth or gender) can use. As per BG, Sharanagathi can be done by any individual. Going through an Acharya is not a requirement. BG recommends studying at the feet of Acharya for JnAnam and not for Prapatti. But because, JnAnam in our SV religion is to realize that surrender is the ONLY path- thus, we (Vadagalai SVs) have propoagted Prapatti through Acharya. dAsan K.S. tAtAchAr Sudarsan Parthasarathy.S. <sudarsanp sanjeh kumar raman <opusdei_27; Mon, 4 Feb 2008 12:28 am Re: Pancha Samskara @ Samasrayana....need some explanation here.. Guest guest
SRIMATE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA Dear swamin, Pancha samskarams are also called SAMAASHRAYANAM,which means effective refuge. We approach an acharya with a longing for knowing the path of liberation. The acharya does the pancha samskarams to the shishya as mentioned in tha prapatti shastras thereby a devotee is said to be taken refuge at the feet of lord. This deeksha is not a must for surrender to the lord. But ,because of this deeksha, the acharya takes the responsibility of convincing the lord to accept the surrender of the shishya which is the sole & most vital aspect of deeksha ceremony. With our doshas ,it is most likely that our surrender may not be accepted as we may not fulfill all the requirements of sharanaagati. Here comes the role of acharya.Once lord has accepted the devotee due to pleading of the acharya, gradually doshas get eliminated & the devotee becomes purer & purer as a result of mercy of lord. Hence deeksha is the surest way of attaining lord. dasan On Mon, 04 Feb 2008 tatachar wrote : > >Dear Swamin, > > > > >>>>>Our religion is leaning on JnAna, >AnushtAna and VairAghya.<<< > >That may be requirement for Acharya whom we >approach for Praptti. Whoever violates them goes against scriptural dictates. Even if he be my devotee, he is by no means a Vaisnava. If you have Bhakti or even if you don't have Bhakti, still you must follow the sastra. Sastra and Acharyas have prescribed panca samskara. So do it. Where is the difficulty? As far as Malaysia is concerned, the sastra says that one should approach a guru. If no guru is available there then one may have to travel outside Malaysia to find one. As far as I know the only Sri Vaisnava giving panca samskara who travels outside of India is Sriman Chinna Narayana Jeer of Viajaywada. There is also a representative of Sri Perumbadur Jeer who gives panca samskara on his behalf in Sydney, Australia named Rama Ramanuja. Apart from these it would seem that one must visit India and seek out a guru.adiyen ramanuja dasanKeshavaFind out how you can get spam free email.http://www.bluebottle.com/tag/
