The happiness of all those with good hearts was genuine and deeply

felt when You appeared – but then, the serpents that were tied to the

manthara hill were frightened, since they thought that your luxurious

dark hair was a peacock! And they became very still.

Oh Lakshmi! In order to comfort all the devas who were churning the

Ocean, Vayu blew softly on the ocean. And Devas showered you with

flowers and so did the Ocean with spray from his foamy waves. And Your

father did Your mangala snanam forYour wedding with these sprays

laced with Hari's glances.

We meditate on You thus as You appeared in the Milky Ocean :

In the ocean of divine nectar is a cluster of wonderful divine trees

and under the trees is a magnificent gem studded mantap; and in the

mantap is a bejeweled throne and You are seated on a bejeweled lotus

flower on the throne! And You are attended by many beautiful divine

maidens! We think of You in this form for success!

svairotsR^itvaraviichikaasahacharaih sa.mviijitaa.m chhaamaraiH

hastaalaN^kR^itapaN^kajaamabhinavaa.m.mkalpairanlpaiH shubhaam

amba tvaamushhasi smaraami jagataamaataN^kakuulaN^kashhaam.)

Apsara maidens serve You with fans that are as white as the waves of

the Milky Ocean and You are adorned with divine jewels with beautiful

lotus flowers in your hands - And You destroy the afflictions of the

whole Universe and You are auspiciousness itself!

We meditate on this form of Yours at sunrise!

All the Devas stood on the shore of the ocean with their hands in

anjali mudra and your Kataksham gave them their wealth- Let this

Kataksham of Yours fall on me too!

You were seated before Pusrushoottaman in a lotus Pedestal and was

showered by all the elephant kings ! Your father – the King of Oceans

- looked at You who is the Empress of the world and was overcome by

(an ocean of) joy!

And at your wedding, Your father was elated to see You in Your abode

of Hari's bosom; and he gave priceless gems to Hari as bridal gift in

order to please You !
