Dear Bhaagavatas:On behalf of the members of the "Board of Advisory Consultants" (BAC) and the "Internal Resource Panel" (IRP) of "Swami Desika Darsana Satsangam" (SDDS) and its Electronic Journal "Sri Ranga Sri" (SRS) and on our own behalf, we the Moderators of the group wish all Bhagavatas a very Happy and Prosperous "Sarva dhaariPuthaaNDu VaazhthugaL".

We are at the threshold of several events in the next few days:

1. 7th April 2008: Monday: Yugaadi (Telugu New Year day)

2. 9th April 2008: Wednesday: The movement of Rahu from Kumba to Makara Raasi and KEtu from Simha to KaTaka Raasi

3. 10th April 2008: Thursday: Completion of 87th Tirunakshatram of asmad Achaaryan, Srimad Andavan, Poundarikapuram Swami Asramam, Srirangam

4. 13th April 2008: Sunday: Tamil New Year day (Sarvadhaari begins)

5. 14th April 2008: Monday: Sri Rama Navami

May the Divya Dhampatis shower their blessings of peace, prosperity and mutual amity upon all humanity. Let us all be happy, healthy and prosperous and engage in greater kainkaryams to Bhagavaan and Bhaagavatas in the year aheadSri Seva Swamigal has composed a StOtra, "Akshaya Aaraadhanam" in which he has used the names of all the 60 years of our almanac.

Here is the one dedicated to "SARVADHAARI SAMVATSARAM"

Kudaaree varaaha: gujaarir vidhaaree

sukoormO hanumaan sa gOpaadhri dhaaree /

param sanka chakraadi dhaaree hari:

sataam vEda chooDaa gurus Sarvadhaaree //

Meaning

“The Lord in Varaaha Avataara took the form a behemoth boar and bore Mother Earth.

In KrishNa Avataara, he destroyed Narakaasura, the evil son of Mother Earth.

As KrishNa again he took the form of a cowherd and bore the Govardana Mountain at the tip of his little finger.

In Koorma Avataara, he took the form of Tortoise and bore the Mantara Mountain on his back to facilitate the churning of the milky Ocean.

His Parama Bhakta, Hanumaan lifted and bore the Sanjeevi Mountain.

The Lord who constantly bears his insignia of conch and discus destroyed the foes of his devotees and offers them absolute protection and bears all their burdens.

He is Swami. He bears all.

He is, indeed, the “Sarva Dhaari”

The traditional Panchangams, of course, usually give their "veNbas" that do not instill much of sanguine prognosis of the year ahead. More often than not, the frightening prospects or the more welcome scenario predicted therein normally do not come true.

Yet, the VeNBaa for Sarva Dhaari year seems to instill some hope for us in the New Year

It reads as follows:

nar sarvadhaaree tanil nalla mazhai uNDaam

Arpavithaanadu ellaam aagaadu – sor periya

Aindu vagai viLaivum - kunju sukhamuDanE

Maindar ellaam vaazhndiruppar matru

Meaning

“In the good and auspicious Sarva Dhaari year, there will be plenty of rains. The yield from seeds would not be negligible.

The yield of five major types of grains will be bountiful. Citizens will live happily with their children”.

Let us hope and pray that the predictions come trueLet us all rededicate ourselves at the lotus feet of the Divya Dampatis who will be happy to bear all our burdens in terms of Seva Swami’s slOkam cited above.RegardsNamo narayanaAnbil RamaswamyMadhavakkannan
