SrI:

Dear Swami Desika BhakthAs:

Fourth day Utsavam : Morning/

GopAla Vesham

SlOkam 11:

HemAbhjAtvEnAryam mahita chaturahE

bartruvat KrishNaroopam ,

prApyAndhOLikAyAm svayamapi

kutukAt jaitra yatrAmanisheeth ,

poorvam GopAlanrutyA yadhabhilashitavAn vamSanALAntaram ,

KrushNam samsmartu antyE samaya iha

tadhaivAsamityAha dhAsam

(Meaning): Srimad Azhagiya Singar enjoys the KrishNa Vesaham arranged by the Mother HemAbhjavalli similar to that of Her Lord(bartruvath KrishNaroopam) for Her son , Swamy Desikan. She also sat in the palanquin with Her son ( prApya andhOLikAyAm svayamapi ) , looked at Her son in KrishNa ( Her Lord's) vEsaham and organized with enthusiasm ( kutukAt) the victorious Veethi puRappAdu for him ( jaitra yAtrAma anaisheeth). Srimad Azhagiya Singar has an imaginary conversation with Swamy Desikan adorning KrishNa vEsaham . During this conversation , Swamy Desikan says : " I eulogized VeNu GopAlan thru a vimsaty ( Twenty slOakams ) once . In one of the slOkams , I prayed for KrishNa to appear before me during my last moments as VeNu GopAlan." Srimad Azhagiya Singar responds : " Now , Swamy Desikan seems to be saying to adiyEn that requested scene is being enacted ( KrishNam samsmartum antyE samaya iha tadhaivAsam ithi Aaha dAsam ) .

Fourth Day's night utsavam: Chandra Prabhai PuRappAdu

SlOkam 12 :

rAtrou tu Indhu: svakAlE dayita

guruvaram hEmapadhmAsagarbhaya:

prEmNA patreebhavam stam hrudhaya-

gatamimam veethikA:paryaNaisheeth

kastO vAyam tadhAsyam viSatrabhavan

hrAsavrudhyEkaSeela:

patreebhUta sthirAtmagurum iha vahatE

sakhyata: sAmyakAnkshee

(Meaning ) The symbolism of Swamy Desikan riding on a Chandra Prabhai is presented here in terms of an ullEkam

( a figure of speech). At this night , Chandran arose at the right time and placed His dear AchAryan on a golden lotus and became joyously a Vaahanam ( prEmNA patreebhavam stam) for the great AchAryan to gain a status equal to that AchAryan and rode with Swamy Desikan around the streets of Ayindhai

( veethikA: paryaNaisheeth) . The only difference between the AchAryan and the Chandran is that the AchAryan is like the full Moon with out waxing and waning , where as the Moon undergoes changes every day ( hrAsam and Vruddhi) .Chandran wanted to acquire a status of PoorNatvam ( sakhyata: sAmya-kAnshyaa) similar to the great AchAryan and hence became a vAhanam for Swamy Desikan on this night .

Fifth day Morning Utsavam:

NaacchiyAr ThirukkOlam

SlOkam 13 :

HemAbhjaasOdharOyam charamaha-divasE dEsikEndhrasya dEham

svaSreeyasya svakAmSAm vidhadhaiha

gurAvAsya rUpENa tishDan

anyOthvAhE bhaginyAviva dhanuja-

mahEshvEkatAlOhaneetyaa

stree vEsham kanchidh-adhyadhbhutam-imam yath kAnchanAndhOLikAm cha

(Meaning) : Chandran is the sahOdharan of HemAbhjavalli , since both arose from the Milky ocean during the time of churning for nectar by the Lord . In this utsavam , Chandran seems to grant His own lustre to both His sister and the body of the srEshta AchAryan .Chandran seems to have created two brides for

" Lakshmi KalyANam" and transformed Swamy Desikan also into NaacchiyAr Kolam (Venkata Naayaki) so that He can perform a double vivAham for His two sisters (with the Lord). Chandran also presented them with a golden palanquin to ride to the Lord's place for Their VivAham . The poet points out that Swamy Desikan in NaacchiyAr ThirukkOlam was like the veritable image of MahA Lakshmi . The poet ( Srimad Azhagiya Singar) wonders whether Chandran was attempting to perform a double vivAham with the Lord of Thiruvaheendhrapuram for His two sisters and presented the golden pallakku as a present during this auspicious occasion.

Fifth Night utsavam : Simha Vaahanam

SlOkam 14

prAgasyAheendhrapuryAm paramata-vitatE: bhanjakai: simhanAdhai:

simhAdhrErAgatOyam ka iha Bahumukha: simha ithyatra bheetA:

simhA: BrahmachalasthA: sapadhi jahumimam DimBa yEkO jaDOabhUt

trasta: pathreekruthassan svayamiha vahatE VenkatAdhreesa simham

(Meaning): The ullElakAlankAram here is about the lions ( paramata Vaadhins)being afraid of the Kavi-tArkika simham's roars and becoming the Vaahanam for the AchAryan .

In the dhivya dEsam of Thiruvayindahi ,

the KavitArkiaka simham orignating from SimhAdhri in ThiruvEnkatam made the Para Mata Vaadhins ( local lions) frightened with His leonine roars and made the local ( BrahmAdhri) lions wonder who this new and powerful Lion could be . The Paramata Vaadhins were fleeing after listening to the terrifying roarings of the new lion coming with its many faces . While running away , they seem to have left behind a lion cub , which became the Vaahanam to the KavitArkika Simham . This Simha VaahanOtsavam reminds Srimad Azhagiya Singar of this situation , where Para Mata Vaadhins were chased away thru the SrI Sookthis of Sata dhUshaNi ,Para Mata Bangam and Tattva mukta Kalapam .
